Are the figures behind the main character supposed to represent companions? If so, then I see at least 15 full figures in the background...

You would think they learned their lesson about too many companions in Mass Effect 2 ... probably not.

What BioWare heard was "I loved the characters in [insert RPG name here]", and thus wrote for more characters.

What people thought BioWare heard was "Please bring back my favorite character in [insert RPG sequel here]".

If we don't get to import our Player from DA:O I'm gonna be pissed....just sayin'.

Read the magazine cover. It says a new champion. Besides Bioware said they probably weren't going to take the same approach as they did with the Mass Effect Trilogy using imports.

/sigh

Ah, well I'm sure the game will still be good either way. Won't judge until I play.

I think the Dragon Age writers decided that after they realized the frustration of the other BioWare writers in trying to make the Mass Effect trilogy continuous.

I don't think we'll be seeing importable saves after Mass Effect 3.

Actually no.  A while back Bioware already told the press that they won't be taking the same approach with DA as they did in ME. They're making it a different style. They could have made it a direct continuation of DA:O, but they didn't. Importable saves is key to a story that spans 3 games and is in direct connection with each other. In other words, a trilogy surrounding the same main character. Dragon Age doesn't have that, and they made that very clear from the beginning.

I don't think I'll be getting this though. DA:O was all right. And it took 4-5 years to make. DA2 was made in 1 1/2 years. Not nearly enough time to see it thoroughly through. I'll pass this one up. The DA franchise really didn't impress me as much as Mass Effect. I look forward to seeing what other IP's Bioware will come up with in the future.

it's all well and good for DA fans, but not everyone is a fan of every single bioware game so just DA news isnt a great day for bioware fans, don't get me wrong its good news and all im sure for DA fans and tbh ofc it wasn't gonna be mass effect dlc cause well we had that yesterday so i have had my dlc fix for the mo so i am not complaining, i just wish bioware would stop with the way they overhype things for people who it doesnt concern (cough epic event cough)

Err... do we know for sure that Dragon Age 2 is coming out next year? I can't find the release date on the EA Store.

It's kind of relaxing to know that the DA2 forums will be nerd rage central for a while. I wonder if ME ragers will take a vacation :D

Insert with Awakening (I believe) said Feb 2011.  However, the press release says March 2011.

It was Feb 1. 2011 at first. Then they moved it to March 2011. So yeah. We know.;)

I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up delaying it to November again, however (like Dragon Age: Origins).

They'd better: the resulting chaos on the forums would be worth it.

Well, of course.

They could say that they're delaying it to add more content and further polish the game, but people will whine anyway because they didn't get what they want right now.

I do. Dragon Age is a mediocre looking game with poor character models and uninspired environments.

It pales when compared to ME2, and it will have stiff competition in The Witcher 2. The Alpha build of The Witcher 2 already looks amazing, especially the environments, which will also have a day/night cycle. Something I doubt Bioware will attempt.

I would love to see the graphics updated and everything you are talking about, I just don't want them to change the art style in the sense that it is cel-shaded or looks like an anime thing. From what I have seen of The Witcher 2, it is indeed good looking.

Agreed. Keep the realism, jettison the ape arms that reach down to your character's knees.

Edit: My mistake. It looks like they are just nixing the race you can choose ( Dwarf, Elf, etc..)
