Is it even worth doing the US ending? Will Dragon Age 2 acknowledge it? Or is it gonna take the cheap rote like awakening.

Awakening DOES acknowledge it. Just don't try to import a dead Warden. I do not think DA2 will be able to acknowledge an US and fit in details of what you did that playthrough due to the lack of a save after choosing to do it yourself. I guess it could give give you the option to play as yourself or start someone knew a la the Orlesian Wardens in Awakening if it's a non-DR game.

If you're roleplaying someone who would sacrifice themselves, do it and enjoy your game. If you aren't, don't.

Yes, but continuation takes a big role in this too, if a person sacrifices himself/herself i want someone to take the mantle in the world he/she created

I usually don't do the sacrifice because the people (wardens) are asking too much from a human/elf/dwarf. Not doing the sacrifice makes your character a flawed hero, and not the white knight larger than life type of person. I like having my warden be grounded, and Morrigan pretty much convinced me...

Honestly you can also be a flawed character ( as I play mine ) and be fully willing to take the sacrifice and not allow someone else to do it. For me if there was no choice but to take the US or allow Loghain/Alistair to do it, then I would always take the US.

I like Morrigan and I trust her though, so I have no issue to take the DR.

Besides the US is an awesome thing, going into the final battle knowing you will not survive, hearing the words of your companions about how proud they were to fight with you and all that. ( See my Thy End video in my signature to understand where I am coming from ).

For my first character, the US was more of a suicide by archdemon as she was really depressed over her breakup with Alistair.....later characters have been more "worldly."

I hate hearing about Wardens committing suicide over losing Alistair. It makes them sound infinitely less badass and more emo teenager.

Yeah, I know.  I deleted that character after that game because I wouldn't really want to be her. But at the time I was playing her, it was exactly how I was feeling....goes to show that the emo 14 year old lives in us still and just needs the "right" guy to call it forth.

It's not so surprising someone would want to end their life once the love of their life abandons them...quite a number of people have committed suicide for something like this.

Honestly, depression and grief are not things only affect 14 year olds.

Someone she dated for, at most, a year broke up with her. Killing herself over it is rather drastic.

Edit: Every day, people in long-term relationships get dumped, divorces are put into motion, spouses dies...it's very tragic and of course they're going to be grieving but it doesn't mean they should go throw themselves off a bridge because of it. That kind of shortsightedness is a hallmark of many teenagers.

You think that if you only know a person for over a year you can't fall completely in love with them? So much in love that you would feel your entire world shatter when they abandon you?

Seriously Sarah.

Especially if they murder a men in cold blooded revenge and demand the crown, whilst forgetting you at the same time.

Especially after that.

Engages Warp Drive and activates FLAME Sheilds.

Fortunately most of us figure out that we can survive even this serious a loss (and most of us have been there).

I just loved the fact that I was so immersed in this game my first playthrough that I actually was feeling that pain....(and I haven't been there in real life in many years).

Seriously Sarah.

Why do you keep reading things into my posts that I don't say?

What I'm saying isn't 'oh, you were only a fling until he became king so get the **** over it' but 'it's not the end of the world even though it hurts so suicide is not the answer.' Are you really arguing for suicide in the case of a breakup? If not then why do you keep disagreeing with me saying JUST that?

Plus, the game doesn't give you time to recover.  I think even my first character could have gotten over it in time...but there is no time.  The decision moment catches you in the first heat of grief.....you don't have time to rebuild your defenses.  It's a kind of "what the h*** moment...you just run for the sword and go for it."

Because if you notice I posted that before you edited it Sarah :P

I am not arguing for suicide, but I am arguing how a person recently dumped by Alistair would do the US, especially if they find the DR high unmoral. ( and I honestly doubt anyone would let the love of their life sacrifice themselves for them, even if he/she dumped them only very recently )

Hell the whole ending was painful

Landsmeet!

Crown a Monarch!

Decide Loghain and Alistairs fate.

Find out about the US!

Decide on the DR!

-if no to above either kill yourself or let another fall in your place

After your first time you get covered in plot bruises pretty nastily.

Good times my first time through but in the end:

I hated Alistair, Morrigan, Riordian, The Wardens, the Blight, and even Kittens.

Fun but bad for my liver it seems.

The fact that they could not import a dead Warden's 'worldstate' into Awakenings, much less a sequel, literally makes any ending involving the ultimate sacrifice into a glorified 'what-if.'

As for what to go with in DA2, really why go with anything BUT the dark ritual?

Dragon Age: named because of all the dragons popping up, signifying great changes ahead.

Endings:

US: Everything continues as it was before.

DR: A completely new unique being, a HUMAN with the SOUL of an IMMORTAL DRAGON is brought into the world with utterly unknown ramifcations for the world, as such a person has NEVER existed before. EVER.

So what ending would they go with? lolrly, even if you hate Morrigan which I completely understand, may as well suck it up and hope that they decide to make DA2 be completely unrelated to DA1 [which is completely possible.]

cheers.
