But I guess people who use to play it might find it interesting, it will be something different then D&D.

DA:P&P will be released as a Boxed Set, from what I can recall it will contain a map; dice; and 3 books: a Gamesmaster's Guide; a Player's Guide and a Bestiary. Green Ronin expect to be continuing this Boxed Set trend--another hail back to the great days of classic D&D.
Green Ronin plan to release the game as a PDF first due to an inability to meet the release date of DAO. The hard-copy will be released a short time afterwards. No dates have been announced as of yet--but I don't expect it will be too long afterwards.
I expect my good friend, Balgin, will probably have something to add to this so I shall let him take it from here--namely because my memory is terrible and I have no doubt missed something out.

The pdf should be available around the same time as the Dragon Age release and then the box will be avilable about a month later.

The leveled box sets remind me so much of the original D&D box sets...

I agree completely. I hate podcasts. Not only do they take longer to listen to than they would to read, but I feel like I'm wasting time just sitting and listening to a podcast, so then I start doing something else and don't pay attention to the podcast, and miss things.Sylvius the Mad wrote...
Podcasts are the devil. I want my internet content to be text, dammit!
Text > Audio.
Still...given the release date, I'm starting to wonder about buying this. I guess it depends on the amount of world lore provided. Instead of a day 1 buy for me (as it would have been if released before DA) I think I'll wait for some reviews from people I trust (i.e. my fellow forumites.)

On the topic of Podcasts over Documents, I think it really comes down to a matter of personal taste. Some find audio better; others do not; some don't mind either way. I personally prefer audio as I can script away whilst listening; but this thread is hardily the place for such a debate.
So moving back to the topic at hand. From what little information myself and Balgin have been able to gather, Green Ronin have gone for a very old school feel to the game. Its panned out as being a ruleslight system, they spoke of the older 60 page rulebooks in the podcast so I expect about that per manual--maybe less for the Bestiary.
The actual rules seem pretty simple. According to an early interview (see here for more details) everything is based off ability tests. You roll 3d6 and add your trait to such. if you beat the Target Number yay you; if not then oh well. The system used in the Green Ronin game will not be the same system used in the Bioware game. I cannot stress this enough; they are not the same system. They are similar in some ways, but definately not the same. Apparently we'll see the same races, classes, monsters and most of the spells; but naturally some have had to be changed to suit the PnP enviroment.
The first boxed set will offer us levels 1-5, with higher levels and the rules relating to such will be released ad hoc in the future. The first set has been marked at around $30 USD, which isn't too bad considering Wizards of the Coast want $34.95 USD just for their Dungeon Master's Guide 2--a much smaller product for a distinctly greater price.
I think thats pretty much all the information I have to hand at the moment. If anybody has any specific questions I'll be happy to try and dig up what I can.

It appears to have been one of the biggest reasons behind the boxed set containing everything you'd need to start playing right away. Rather than say, D&D 4e which also was designed as an entry system, but to play you'll need 3 rulebooks and at least one set of dice--a quick guesstimate places that at about $100 USD.

Yup, I'm very aware of all that (although I suppose others might not be.) The thing is, I'm doubtful I'll ever play the actual game (seeing as I don't have a regular group any longer) and was just planning on buying it for setting information. If it doesn't provide a lot of setting information not available in the game or elsewhere, I'm not particularly interested in buying it.Illiani wrote...

New information:
Dragon Age, Set 3: Last but by no means least, we come to my baby, Dragon Age. This set includes the rules for characters level 11–20, as well as a plenty of new source material about Thedas and a new adventure. Since it'd be impossible for us to print this at the same time as Emerald City and DC Universe, the plan is to release the PDF and start the pre-order in November and then release the physical product in January.
I know this is not ideal and that the Dragon Age fans have been waiting a long time for Set 3, but the January release will actually be good for the game. As you may or may not have heard, I filmed two episodes of TableTop, Wil Wheaton's excellent show on the Geek & Sundry network. I ran Dragon Age for Wil, Chris "The Nerdist" Hardwick, and two mystery guests. My episodes will air in February and they close out Season 1 of TableTop. Getting Set 3 out right before these episodes will ramp up the Dragon Age excitement at the right time, and then in February we'll have the complete game available for those who watch the show and join us in the shadows where we stand vigilant.
So that's our plan moving ahead. As you can see, we've got plenty of gaming goodness still to come in 2012!
