So which ending is the true ending?

If Bioware can pull off a game with so many different starting points, which would lead to different storylines (possibly very different), then that would be perfect. However I don't think even it can. The variations would be too great.

But to me, it cheapens the events as a whole of the previous game without a canon established, since that deems, while your actions occured, they were irrelevant. Although that's really the same complaint as having canon established, simply a different perspective on it. Hmm, it forces the writers not to progress the story in certain veins or remove the effects of the player choice in the prior game anyway. Of course, establishing a canon answer for events, just shifts that to the players instead, who may feel like that they cannot progress the story in a certain vein, or feel their choices removed.
Me, I'd still like to see story progression and character development. But that's a different view.

Who says that a sequel needs to occur RIGHT after Dragon Age: Origins? It might happen during, in a different province. Who says that Grey Wardens only fight the Dark Spawn? You might not even need to be a Grey Warden in a sequel. The game could even be a prequel, during the previous blight since they have canon for it. And perhaps Grey Wardens on Griffins.
If it was the previous blight, it'd be really odd, since then it wouldn't be the Dragon Age

The epilogue basically confirmed a direct sequel. There is so much to tell.
But I would definately like to see the return of griffins. I was actually half expecting griffins to pop out of no where and join the fight against the blight.

In mine there was no demon child, I died, Allistar was on the throne, etc.
To say that I helped create a blight on the world because it makes a sequel cheapens my game, just as saying it never happened cheapens yours. (remember NWN: HOTU for how they compromised on the Aribeth thing).
Best thing is to have it NOT tie in directly.

Umm the epilog did not ALWAYS confirm a direct sequel.

Not necessarily the best, just different. Since by refusing to acknowledge, the events are dismissed out of hand. Although to be fair, Gaider implied at least more happening with Morrigan in the future. Of course, plans change

In your story, you are dead. So obviously nothing was said.
But Bioware basically "promised" me a sequel in my epilogue, but didn't |promise" (or hint might be a better word) anything to you.
So if they don't continue the story, it will greatly cheapen my game, but not yours, since your story is over.
