I want to play around with some characters from the DA toolset. I already downloaded the Tazpn's program to convert .mmh to a .obj but I don't have or know where to get the .mmh's of the characters. Can anyone please direct me to what I need to do or where I need to go to get character .mmh's?

you can get .mmh with DATool as well, there you can see what are you extracting. Depends on you want, you can choose cn_nuda model (think thats the name) what is armorless body (cause most of characters share same body)

If you are looking for .erf file I think the right one is called modelhierarchy.erf

Alright I guess I'm just too new to the toolset to know how to do anything. I just wanted to take a look at a basic human model or two but I don't know where to export them as a .mmh (i've only found how to export a .utc?).

The .mmh files are stored in archive "modelhierarchies.erf"

The .msh files (which contains the model geometry and are referenced by .mmh files) are stored in archive "modelmeshdata.erf"

Both can be opened using the Toolset, which allows to extract individual files.

When using gmax or 3dsmax to view the models you may just use my importer instead of tazpn's converter

@ Eshme

I downloaded that before but i couldn't figure out how to install it.

@tmp7704

Alright I found that and extracted a .mmh. I assume that there are a bunch of .erf files from which I can extract all of the objects i can find in the editor?

Thanks for the help guys. This noob appreciates it.

Really? When did you have this problem? I cant remember it. Perhaps you try downloading the recent version. It has a readme with instructions for installation.

Yeah I just downloaded it from this site. I had located it before on another site and the download had no readme, just a jumble of files. I've successfully installed your program now and am trying to locate the files to export so I can import some male or female models into 3dsmax.

Yes, aside from the sound bits most of the game assets is in these .erf files. Textures are divided between a few files, meshes are generally in the two archives i mentioned.

so to use your importer Eshme, do I import just straight .mmh? Cause I found an .erf, exported some .mmh (there were only three in the file. So unless I'm missing something I don't know where else to look...) but then when I tried to import the file it couldn't do it because it could not find the file or something like that.

Probably you have opened a erf from a addin, if there was only 3 files? The modelhierarchies.erf from the main game has some hundred mmh's ,one for each model basically.

Yes and the MMH is the main model file, that you can import with my importer. But you need additional files, and which files these are is stored in the MMH. It is one or more MSH, MAO, PHY files and DDS files.

I have noted in the readme, where each filetype can be found. Like in which erf.

So the Importer will miss files if you havent extracted them right? You should see which it is missing and extract them, and then continue import. For as long files are missing.

Ah I understand.

Where is the main .erf located if you might happen to know? I purchased the game on steam since that probably changes things.
