New hero and set in a place outside of Ferelden? Excellent! That's what I was hoping for.

Yeah. I was a little confused at first when they said it'll "be set in a different part of Ferelden." No doubt they got that mixed up with Thedas, as they later said that it's featuring "a new hero, a different part of the world, and a ton of surprising improvements that will shed even more light on the lore of the Dragon Age universe."

A different part of the world as in... ? Orlais? Personally my top choice on the wishlist is the Tevinter Imperium.

I'm hoping for the game to be set in the Imperium myself. I don't think Orlais is practical. Having 90% of the characters in the game have faux-French accents probably wouldn't be received too well. I also think that The Free Marches would be a good setting for the game.

Yes.. me too..

And I was also sure it would have been so...

Now we have to prepare for a long long debate between people who wanted this and people who wanted to continue the adventure with the old character...

Yes, exactly the same thought I had. Leliana was the only character from Orlais who didn't sound completely and utterly ridiculous. They'd need an overhaul in voice work with how the accent is portrayed, otherwise it'd be just too annoying or players to hear over and over. Then again, I haven't played Leliana's Song DLC, and isn't that set in Orlais? I wonder how they managed with that...

Really? I kind of assumed everyone would be okay with a brand new character. I mean, Dragon Age was more or less set up to be a self contained legend regarding your character... no doubt DA2 is set some time, maybe even centuries, in the future. There is only a blight every 400 years, after all. More likely it's set a generation later though, because Morrigan's child is likely a story element....

Well the end of Awakening leads to assumptions of another Blight starting up....(I don't want to post spoilers)

Plus, the Dragon Age is suppose to be within a single century isn't it?

Roughly, yes.
DA2 would have to be within ~70 years after the events of DAO to stay true to that.

Where do you think this "other part of the world" might be?

Somehow I get the feeling that it won't be in Orlais; personally speaking, I got a bit tired of the place in the main game... and we didn't even go there! I'd rather see either the Free Marches, tumultuous Antiva, or even better, the mysterious Tevinter. It would be really neat to see things from their perspective, especially given their independant Chantry, magocracy, and existence of actual slavery...

I don't mind having to play a new hero...he/she won't die on us too quickly. (Remember Origins) :)

I think it has already been said that there won't be another blight in DA2.

Yes..really.. from the day they released Awakening 'till today it has been the greatest talkin' point between people here.. The community is really split in two.. between people who wanted a new story and people who wanted a direct sequel

We all knew that someone was obliged to be disappointed... And I am sure many people won't be happy when tehy'll know this.

I don't care either way wither its a new PC or carrying on as the one from DA:O.

I dont mind not playing my character in the new one, but it's just the ending of Awakening was pretty much like Origins. If they don't intend on continuing with our current PC's the ending must be concluded somewhat?

I expected a new PC, but I'm still kind of disappointed. DA:O feels unfinished if you do the DR, and Awakening was just a ****** poor excuse for an expansion. That may be why they went with a new PC, though, not going to risk messing it up again. Also, you know, the title being "Origins" led me to believe it would be a more interconnected series....

I'll reserve actual judgment for when I see some trailers or something instead of basement dweller whargarbling about it, though. "New" doesn't mean "bad", just... initially disappointed.

I agree :? can the current ending be just left as that. Unless they intend to return to it, I'm going to feel a tad disappointed. I'm quite attached to my PC and don't really want a cliff hanger ending which will never be resolved....

Me neither really, but I definitely got the impression of a new story with a new character, it seems to make the most sense. I thought it had been hinted at, but perhaps not. In any case, that appears to be cleared up now, and like one poster said, hopefully that other side of people won't be too disappointed...

Besides, maybe this will give them the opportunity to do origin stories again... assuming that's still a major feature? Unless it was specifically for Dragon Age: "Origins" (hence the name) and perhaps DA2 will have it's own major distinguishing feature...? No idea. More origins sounds good to me though

The DA2 not-quite-announcement-yet doesn't mean an end to the Warden's Story as of this moment. I'm under the belief that BioWare have stated that more DA DLC is to come, as to whether that is Warden based or not is unclear.

Heck, we might even get another expansion before DA2.

Great news indeed! But deep inside, I know I'll miss my Cousland. Poor warden will wander all over Thedas searching for Morrigan *sniff* Maybe we can choose to import an old file?

But hey if I get to be a qunari, that'd really make me happy =D

Really disappointed we can't import our character, since the end of Origins really set up a sequel that would continue following your character.

However I'm also super excited about this:

Embark upon an all-new adventure that takes place across an entire decade and shapes itself around every decision you make.

The idea of the story unfolding over a decade sounds like it wouldn't necessarily be possible by continuing Origins' story.

So long as the game doesn't change the world or the history so that it directly conflicts with my decisions. That would suck.
