Better Character Creator

You could say this about every character creator (except maybe APB, by the looks of it), but Dragon Age's was pretty weak.

Surely it's not hard to have a much bigger range of hair/beards/skin/eyes/noses etc?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who'll be kind of annoyed if the game comes out with awesome this and that but I can't play it with a character that looks even remotely like I want.

Still 7 months left, so if enough people voice their support I'm sure we can drive BioWare to really invest some effort into making a great character creator.

EDIT: Just another thought, I'd be happy being able to make a character like the one on the official site. However I felt the same way about Origins, but it was next to impossible to make a character that resembled the one from the cinematic ad.

I didn't mind the DA1 character creator, but I would like one that's a bit more versatile.

I hope for scars and more tattoos. And make them both stackable.

I'd be happy if they just added in the character code system from ME2.

I hope there even is a character creator and "dude with beard" isn't who we have to play as. Considering it's BW, I am not too worried but still.

Since you can choose class, I'd think that we don't have to be warrior guy with beard.

I too would like to see an improved character creator though I was happy with the original one. People will always want more and more until they demand the moon. Problem is you can't box the moon.

Yeah. get with the times. :P

I honestly don't understand all the EA hate. They've really turned around in the last few years (and paid for it, see Activision's success). Hell, they bought BioWare and are giving them loads of money to make games! What's to hate?

I was ok with character creator but if it can be improved with more selections for DA2 it would be great.

I would like to ask for a better lighting in character creator. Seems like everytime we create a character it takes place in some dark and underlit dungeon where I can't see the eye colour and skin tone clearly.

Many times I choose what I think is a slightly tanned skintone and then find out my char is very fairskinned when my PC steps in some sunlit area or I pick a fair skintone and discover the PC is in fact white as a sheet :(

I hope there is a fully rendered default character to choose from; like Shepard in Mass Effect.

Eh, I don't care too much about character creation options. In fact, I wouldn't mind a set character at all - I loved games like Planescape: Torment and The Longest Journey, but as yukidama said, considering it's BioWare, this likely won't happen. I don't care so much about barbie-dolling my character, that stuff is fun, but ultimately unimportant.

I'd like a wider variety of skills and customization, though - having only one social skill (coercion) that encompasses everything is just very, very limited. Something like Bloodlines had envisioned, with Seduction, Intimidation, and Persuasion would be nice. Also, it would be really cool is if you got special dialogue to maybe control someone's mind if you were a blood mage, kinda like how you could use Dominate if you were a Ventrue.

I'd like more options and more customisation. I want more hair styles, hair and eye colours. Perhaps some more light blue eyes. Longer hair styles for both genders or the ability to choose the length of the hair style. Body tattoos, I'm not big on face tattoos. I'd like to cover my characters arms with some really cool looking tattoos though. Perhaps a piercings option would be good as well. More variety in clothing. Perhaps some better mage robes. I'd like some really cool looking dark robe. Perhaps also some different elf ears. Scars might be cool too, again like tattoos not just facial but some for other body parts. Also a height and weight option might add some variety in characters.

Well personally I like to make my own unique character. But about that dominate thing. That could work well. Kind of also like using the Jedi Mind tricks in Star Wars the knights of the old republic.  With blood magic I'd like to use it to control peoples minds to make them do what I want. And I wonder if shapeshifting could be used to take human form as a sort of trickery. Might be asking a bit much for that though, but still would be interesting. Though shapeshifting does need a lot of improvement if it's going to be in Dragon Age 2.

I absolutely support this. I mean, they're apparently well aware how important character customization is to many of us to further enhance involvement and atmosphere, but the capacities of character editors in both franchises, DA:O and ME, certainly left much to be desired.

Character creator of APB is so great. Is it too much to ask something like that?

If DA2 would even let us customize the character...I hope it will. Mass Effect's character creation's pretty impressive so I hope they do something like that.

I passionately disagree with you on ME's character creator. In ME and ME2, it's really hard to get characters to look the way you want to. I find that 9 times out of 10 they end up looking different in game than they do in the creator, and at certain camera angles they end up looking just plain fugly. It wasn't a good creator, in my opinion.

Dragon Age had a decent character creator. It wasn't too hard to make decent looking characters, it just took a little practice. All it really lacked was character codes.

I like having a lot of control over how my character looks too, but I think there's far too much emphasis on these boards over a detail like this which really shouldn't matter all that much. There have been lots of RPG's done with set characters, so it has nothing to do with how good the game will be. Yeah, it's nice, but it's not a big deal IMO.

And I'm really adamant about extra dialogue options based on class. A blood mage should get extra dialogue options to control or manipulate people. Likewise, it would be fun to see different dialogue options if you play as a templar and are talking to a mage. Stuff like that really adds a lot.

Give us a toolset to make characters and I'm happy. I'd be fairly happy with Morrowind style CC, tho.

Maybe as an assassin, threats of death as intimidation? could be pretty cool.

hmm I would mind something like three different or four different body types, thin, normal, brute and a chubby one.

or something like APB's character generator. Of course I also wouldn't mind something like a more downplayed morphing in game like Fable. but I can't have my cake and eat it too but a man can dream.
