No way in hell that it's a new engine. It takes years to design a new engine.

Actually, it probably will be a new engine. They said they were going to really improve the graphics, and I remember a designer who worked on Awakening said the engine had been pushed to its limits. New art style and a new combat system means new engine, most likely.

Lol okay let's split the diffrence with the fact none of you work in the industry and none of you know wtf you're talking about and move on yes?

As for the actual topic, DA definetly needs a massive face lift, find out in August how much was done

The Witcher used the same engine as the original Neverwinter Nights, you know. Engines typically have long lives if they receive modifications.

You know...I got a sneaking suspicion that it will be anime-style...Due to the Dragon age anime movie being made soon. I hope I am wrong. Its Dragon age, not pokemon.

The art you see is concept art my friend. For them to jump from a full 3d graphics game to a cell shaded game would be practically unheard of. All concept art never looks like the actual game footage, that's why it's concept art. Enjoy the art and wait patiently for game footage. :)

You've never played Wind Waker have you?

If it ends up being animeish though, Dragon Age is dead to me.

Oh God, please don't let DA II turn into a cel-shaded or cartooney looking game. Please don't.

DA world is a realistic looking one, it should always stay like that.

I'm all for stylized art, actually.
look at the Wind Waker. After years it stills the best looking Zelda game, far better than Twilight Princess or (looking at the trailers) the new incoming chapter.

But to be honest I just don't think Bioware is going to dare so much. They are always been for bland mainstream choices, so far.
I'm far more concerned about the BG-like gameplay, in fact. Let's hope they are not going to discharge it to "consolize" the game.

Man I wasn't expecting this painful reaction to the new art move.

I love the concept art here and I loved the concept art for Dragon Age. I was torn to pieces when the game didn't look at all like the concept art. Not even in theme! I really hope they go for a more gothic fantasy, gothic fantasy punk kind of look. Eh I'm not good at talking about art directions.

Just got to say I'm in favor of a stylized look, more stylized armor and more color for goodness sake. If they add more color into the landscape, the backgrounds, the scenery I'll be happy. I hate my fantasy world feeling so brown.
