LONGER than DA:O, which was way to short. (Allthough DA:O was really good quality... i would NOT trade qualiity for quantity if it came to that!)

How... what? DA:O was easily a 40-60 hour campaign.

My expectations and hopes:

Better visuals, main character voiced, Demon Souls-style combat, Cloaks & hoods (no more stupid hats), better companions, better villains, different races besides Dwarves, Elves, Men and Orcs, soundtrack by a composer with some taste and style who won't just rip-off the LOTR soundtrack, less immature blood and gore both in-game and on the websites, more extensive and meaningful C&C than was in DA:O, and an intricate plot that isn't just the typical gather allies, fight the devil, save the world (although that's what it sounds like already, unfortunately...)

Also I would really like for them to drop the false "Dark Fantasy" label and stick with High Fantasy.

Since I'm slightly worried about the male-specific marketing that is already apparent on the new website, I'm hoping that it's possible to play a female PC. Considering BioWare's track record, I shouldn't be worried, but I can't help it.

In addition, I also want a darker game. If that's what they're going for with DA as a franchise, then go for it, and do it with style. Like Seagloom said, DA:O had its dark moments, but overall there were still too many instances in which it was possible to take the high road with no adverse consequences.

I hope for attention to details and originality in the setting. Interesting characters and heaps of meaningful interaction with them. Romances. Epic moments. Surprises. An immersive gaming experience.

Yeah it didn't seem like Dark Fantasy in the slightest. So either go the whole hog Bioware, or don't bother at all.

Agree completely. BioWare have an established IP already and an opportunity to really do something different - doubt it's going to happen, though. Likely, it's still going to be the same heroic fantasy stuff though - BioWare just don't want to make games with a more experimental, personal focus like Mask of the Betrayer or Torment. On the plus side, the game will take place outside of Fereldengland, so we might see a lot more of the qunari and the Tevinter Imperium. It's been mentioned as well by Gaider that the next story will not involve another blight, so I'm slightly optimistic. Origins was pretty fun, so I'm at least going to keep my eye on the sequel.

a) It's dumb.

B) It doesn't make sense.

c) It makes the world feel much more artficial than it already is (in the sense that everything is adjusting to your level).

d) I want the challenge level to be very varied - depending on my choices, previous battles, collected loot etc.

e) It can be done without in a non-linear game, with excellent results, even if there's much ignorance in this regard. Although, it takes more work and talent.

f) The feeling of progression and accomplishment in a game without level scaling.

I could go on..

@Paromlin: Please don't. 20 pages of that other garbage thread was more than enough.

As for my hopes, more interesting talent trees, but I'll settle for a nightmare difficulty that is there and an engaging story.

As long as they keep the dark fantasy motif and amazing storytelling, I'm happy -- really, Orzammar and the Broodmother still haunt my memories (so awesome).

Soteria, that thread was not garbage. Your assumption that it was is garbage though.

The dynamic duo of Inon Zur and Aubrey Ashburn should handle the soundtrack of DA2.

This is a must  BioWare !

First thing that popped to mind was: Main character must be voiced.

I got sick and tired of watching his dumb face (no matter how cool I made him). Every character in Dragon Age had a personality except for the player himself. I hated the fact there was no voice acting.

Other than that I would like to see better graphics, more fun gameplay, better combat. Also, I don't need all those origins. Just give one origin and put some major freakin detail in everything. Also leaves more time creating proper reactions to your choices.

That's it.

A redesigned stat/character development system. Talents/Spells worked alright in DA:O, but the stat system had some deadweight stats (Constitution, Willpower save for a few specializations) and several types of characters just pumped one stat extremely high (Strength for 2 handers, Magic for uh, Mages) and the others would still only be pumping too.

The problem was class specific stats like Magic or Cunning, that other classes didn't really need. Each stat should do more non-combat things, such as strength increasing the amount you can carry, magic increasing the effectiveness of your crafted items, cunning opening more dialogue options and stuff like that.

Since they're just sticking with a human male/female for the main character, I'd personally really like to see a stronger emphasis on armour/clothing customization. Allow people to change their Hair in the middle of the game ( a first for a Bioware game) and provide more than a handful of armour/weapon models that just get recoloured constantly. (If you still keep to the Bioware formula, atleast allow us to pick the colour)

I'd like to see a smart conversation system. I don't just want mass effect's system again. party member interaction (and there better be party members) should be a hybrid of Origins and Awakening.

I have a bit of a sour taste in the mouth with them pulling a Mass Effect and limiting you to a human male or female. I don't care if my main character is voiced when I have way more options for roleplaying. Seems "RPGs" are less about role playing a character you made and more about MAKIN' DECISINZ and LEVLIN' UHP.

I would like to see less of a "assemble your team" game. I understand Bioware's thinking in that we get to see each character's personality, story and get a feel for them upon finding them and recruiting them, but they're now in a rut.

At the very least, make it appear less of a main storyline than it is. Bioware has been doing the recruiting the team for a while now but it wasn't until these last two games that they made it a prominent story element, something I'm not a fan of. Subtlety for the assembling of the part is key. Focus less on having that as a story element and focus on the actual plot.

This doesn't mean I'm against the side-quests for the party members, nor am I against recruiting them.

Other wishes are voiced main character, more stuff to do outside of combat, and a more refined combat system on the consoles. A lot of things I would ask for have already been listed so I won't bother to list them again.

I agree with the assemble your team idea. While DAO had the assemble your army idea, I liked how in DAO your npcs for the most part you bumped into during various other quests.

I really hope Bioware does away with the required npc idea (Oghren), I never like the idea that I HAVE to take someone with me. I normally take them anyway but I just prefer it a little different.

I'd like to effect my npcs more. I think back to Kotor 2 box art, where the pc's compainos looked drastically different whether he was evil or good. Plus please add better compaion missions, the one's in DAO just felt rather bland to me.

Better get over it. Some folks just can't handle not hearing the PC's voice anymore

@swirlwind: Chris Priestly said in another thread that the PC can be a male or female. Humans only.

I am hoping that EA and BioWare have not done away with the romance as they did in Awakenings. I personally think the Romantic Story-lines made a big part of the game for me. I am a table-top and text based RPGer and I know when there is a romantic commitment to one of the characters it makes the game more interesting and people more committed. Even my male friends were disappointed about the lack of romance in Awakenings.
Since we are locked into Human form we can at least have some control over our background story. I know each time I played a different race and bg story it gave me a different perspective of the game itself. I hope they keep that feature. Oddly enough one of the Backgrounds that touched me so deeply was the Dwarf Noble I felt so bad for that character LOL.
Another desire is that they do not try to replace the companions with watered down versions of the orginals. I know with me and my friends that we all have our own favorite companions. In awakening when they tried to replace the insufferable Zevran I was left flat. Fan's of Al were also disappointed.
I hope they do not go with the same type of interactions with the companions that they introduced in Awakenings. That was horrible.
There so many improvement that I would love to see. <3

Open Game world.

Really that's the biggest change I'd like to see in DA 2. Other then that, DA:O on the PC was pretty much everything that I expected out of the title. Just open up the game world a little more for the player to explore!!!

I can't wait!!!!

Larger world.

DA: O we only went where there were allies to be recruited and Denerim. This time around we should have some extra areas that don't have to be associated with the main plot but still give us some fun side quests or a city/village to stop by and stock up on items.

Morrigan! I loved the way Da:O ended. A great choise, and i want to see what happened with her or at least her baby. Meeting some other companions would be nice (like Sten on the battlefield, he started fighting against humanity, no?)

Another cool option would be to import your own caracter from origins as vilain. He/she became evil because of the power or something like that...

There is one thing i really didn't like about origins: Lothering fell, without you being able of at least trying to defend it. Attacks on city's maybe?

If there is one thing I hope for, is that characters actually look like adventurer, mud stains, belts with alot of different stuff on it, a back pack, and so forth. that would be cool.
