Don't hate, I kind of got that feeling too at first glance. It's the pose in combination with that polearm/staff that is similar to another melee weapon *cough*crowbar*cough* and the armor itself in a way is a little similar to the HEV suit.

Yes, bioware is ripping off everything, ever thats ever used a human male holding something. Even stuff that comes out 'later' in history like 10 years from now.
