Hmmm....

Multiplayer was popular long before MW2 on PCs. The community is already well established. Doesn't mean they'll automatically respond to any multiplayer slapped on to a primarily single player game. If anything they'll be turned off by it (including myself).

Indeed, this is how we described it on the wow forums and was actually much better than the game's current pvp. :D

Multiplayer=no thank you

Oh come on. I remember the Baldur's Gate II LAN partys, when connectivity was so horrible it fell down every couple of minutes (Spanish 'net is a pile of bovine fertilizer). Fun times.

As a former Shadowbane player, I can say emphatically that there is no such thing as good Age of Conan or WoW PvP.

If they want to add co op or something that would be cool. But I would never play it. I think that DA is definately more of a single player game and I would prefer it if all attention went to the single player experience.

Wtf half of you guys are saying no to Multiplayer? Why?

It's an extra you don't have to play online if you don't want to, and it doesn't have to take nothing away from the story, if BioWare choose to do so.

If we're going to imagine the development budget and resources of Bioware as a large apple pie, there are only so many slices to go around.

Granted, none of us can say with any certainty how big that pie is, but I think it's safe to say that most Bioware CRPG fans - and certainly the ones objecting to the idea of multiplayer in this thread - would prefer the entire pie by eaten by the single player game.

I don't want them to waste resources on a set of features that I don't want. If they could add multiplayer at no additional cost and w/o removing any single player functionality of depth of story then I would be ok with mp.

Then what should they take time from to add multiplayer?

But Multiplayer is a feature which most console gamers want. It could also bring in new audiences too, allowing BioWare more reasources in the future. Sooner or later this game will have to get Multiplayer to compete with the modern games. That's what people said about AC, look now, it has got multiplayer.

We'll see then, won't we?

It's certainly nowhere near the top of my list of priorities, so I'm going to shrug at the notion.  Especially if they're framed as demands using phrases like, I don't know "still no multiplayer?"

Hey, if MP really will bring in more players and enough revenue, nobody'd object.

Hey I am just going with the simple fact that those at BioWare have made it abundently clear there will be no Multiplayer/online play/co-op in DA2. Same as they said would be for DA:O.
Will there be any for for DA3? I dunno but with this trend I suspect not. It has nothing to do with what or what not I or anyone else to do.

You are right that it would be up to what BioWare wants to choose to do. They have said they want to focus on the story in a single player aspect so that would ineviably take away from the co-op story since it would just be focused on a single person playing and interacting with the story. As would it take away from the single player opiion if they were to focus on a co-op story where each person could interject as much of themselves into how that story plays out but a person playing thru it by themselves would lose that interaction.

As those at BioWare have put it so many times before they have picked their battle and are going with the single player story game.

What sort of new audiences? If they're the sort that like things that suck and would start demanding those things be added to the game, I'd just as soon see Dragon Age stay a small niche market.

Leave PvP to real PvP games not as a bad after thought to an RPG game!

You want to challenge a human player, go play some Quake Live.
REAL RPG games involve MULTIPLE players working in unison, not just one human trying to control an AI party.

Dragon Age or Mass Effect were never TRUE rpg games, just rpg likeish.

If BioWare want's to make Dragon Age 2 an rpg, then it will no doubt have multi play, with refined net code.
Thats what I would like to see!
+5 Multiplayer

Well as soon you complete the story what is there? Some downloadable content which is pretty much garbage. Sure repeat the game once or twice, but still, It can't compete with games that have multiplayer.

DLC being "garbage" is very much a matter of debate.  Furthermore, Bioware has made many single player games with more than adequate replayability for many people.

The view that Bioware's single player games "cannot compete" with multiplayer games is the very definition of an opinion.  In fact, comparisons between it and runaway successes like Modern Warfare 2 - a game in a wildly different genre - are arbitrary and meaningless.  Like comparing the sales of luxury sports cars to light pickup trucks.

I'm not conceptually against the idea of multiplayer in a Bioware CRPG, I just don't view it as a priority in any way.

And Dragon Age will remain a light pickup truck, until it gets mutliplayer. Just saying. I play on console, and I don't buy any games that do not have multiplayer, because I like to play with my mates on xbl. DA is the only exception, and to be honest I didn't even buy DA, I borrowed it from a mate. Then got hooked on the Flemeth/Morrigan plot.

Since the DA series will be spanning years, dumping characters, locations...the possiblity that we will never have a permenant character, because DA is about "The world." ( The world isn't what got me hooked, it was the characters.) I won't be as attached to the characters in DA2. For many reasons.
