And that ends my interest in DA2 then. Like if there arent enough SP RPG's out there. Or MMO's on the MP side.

Anyone here who said "go play WoW" clearly fails badly in knowing the difference between a RPG with a Multiplayer mode, Modulair design with a DM client, and MMO's.

So the ball is back to Atari/Hasbro for the future of NWN style games, even though they are in a massive lawsuit with each other now.

Not that I had much hope, in this ignorant-to NWN's Multiplayer mode commuinity.

Almost all modern games are immensely focused on multiplayer. It drives me insane!!! Singeplayer is what makes or breaks the rpg. I don't want to go with a lame party of a friends and play dragon age. I don't want to fight some other players online. I want to explore the whole world on my own. It all adds to the story-line. Just ask yourself this question: Can a game with multiplayer have the same epic storyline and gripping moral decisions as a game like dragon age with no multiplayer? I say no. So I hope they keep it to singeplayer.

Sad sad sad. In my opinion Baulder's Gate 2 was so great because I could share the experience with a friend in multiplayer. And BG2 is still ranked in many circles as the best Bioware game ever made.

I thought EA implemented a policy that all their future games had to have a multiplayer component? Is DA2 grandfathered or does BioWare just get an exception?

Almost all modern games are immensely focused on multiplayer.

No they're not. Give me examples where it is so, and not an FPS, but RPG.

SP only RPG's:

DA:origins

Gothic Series

Drakensang series

Jade Empire

Knights of the Old rebublic 1 and 2

Alpha Protocol

Witcher 1 and 2

Mass Effect 1 and 2

And so on, and so on....

Please tell me of a RPG game that isnt a MMO and isnt 9 year old NWN1 or 6 year old NWN2.

Please Note that the NWN series cannot be bought anymore in my region, and that makes me slightly desperate to try and convince Bioware to make a NWN style game again. One day the discs break, the PC needs a format, or Windows/Video drivers dont support the game I love.

Because of what, a community that is ignorant to what the MP mode in NWN actually is, as opposed to other MP games, such as MMO's?

Imagine the dialogue system in multiplayer.

Player 1: Alright, lets just go talk to this person, see what they have to say.
*Talks to person*
Player 2: Skip it! I wanna' fight more monsters.
Player 1: But I want to hear what this person has to say.
Player 2: Who cares? Its boring. Lets kill more monsters already! Skip it!
Player 1: No. I want to understand the story.
Player 2: Lrn2play nub. I'll go play with some real gamers then.

I say yes that MP can be as epic (even more so) then a DA:O is...  It depends on how good the DM is.  no MP makes me very very sad..  if you never did it as in the NWN 1 style, you never know what is missing....

When I bought NWN2's Special Edition, I got a free DVD-ROM with NWN1 on it. Best buy ever just because of that. I keep that one stored in a safe, 50 feet underground in my nuclear shelter in Africa. And I live in Norway.

Which is why you may want to play the game alone first, and then you can start delving into coop campaign with other  people who also have a vague idea what they're doing and it makes... zOMG, awesome replayability!!!11.
Or player 2 can also be nice and wait, it does happen you know, not every online gamer is a griefer.

Then the money that is spent on multiplayer functionality is money that could've bettered the singleplayer.

I'd rather have an amazing singleplayer campaign than a good Singleplayer campaign and multiplayer options.

..Or you make a well thought out RP world with DM'd campaigns for a mature playerbase.

These Servers exist now, in NWN 1 and 2. Thanks to Bioware, and Obsidian. (and Atari/hasbro)

We can´t argue with haters... they will hate without reason and only think in themselves. That´s why I love co-op... we always work together to COOPERATE. We wouldn´t say: "make a co-op only game to not allow those who play single-player only."

Those haters are very lonely people. Interaction with other human beings (even through multiplayer), for them, is a mystery and horror at the same time.

Very lonely indeed. I think the same

oooh, generalizing, how fun.  let me try.  I don't like listening to 13 year olds like you screem obscenities at me in your high pitched voices.  Go back to Halo and Call of Duty.  Did I do good?

Do you think they'd make servers like that nowadays though? More than likely there'd be a bloody matchmaking system, using developer made maps.

This is clearly FPS Shooter thinking. A DM'd Campaign in NWN is a totally different beast than playing deathmatch in Unreal Tournement, or whatever Shooter game is cool now on the consoles.

I kinda wish we had the playerbase there we did before. Most people I see there now are power-leveling or hacking the game.

There are a lot of people slating an online aspect of DA2, unfortunatally this is what happens when games are made simple for console players.

All those people saying 'thank god' are probably new people to the whole rpg thing - new as in 8 years or so), and dont understand the greatness of NWN persistant worlds, they dont understand its nothing like 'WoW' and those other 'care bear' MMO's.

Its a real shame it wont be playable online (aka NWN), i think DA would have gone a lot futher and stayed around for longer, but i guess companys are only interested in making quick cash rather than keeping people playing.

There are still hundreds of people playing NWN online and i understand that companys see them as wasted opportunities for making a quick buck.

Very sad day.

Good to hear that it's single player only, sick to death of the amount of multi player focused games there are. And many of those tend to have a dead online mode shortly after release, so such a feature is useless, especially while online capable shooters are madly popular.

I'm quite happy with single player, don't have to put up with some prat singing down his mic, screaming, demanding and more.

*Fighting a large angry dragon and been forced with other players who's idea of an RPG is a massive weapon*

"U r grl?"

"What? I'm a little busy right now"

"U r grl? Pics?"

"I'm trying not to be turned into a flame grilled roast here, are you going to help out or not?"

"Show me u r grl"

"I don't have time for that and no thanks, now can you please help me out here"

"Me leave" *player logs out*

"Lovely, so much for a helping hand"

Happier with single player, leave the multi player for others.

Here we have a prime example of MMO brain washing. We are not talking MMO for DA. We are talking coop with *gasp* friends or a DMed persistant world. People need to stop thinking WoW.

If more people know what we are talking about maybe the would agree and the publisher might listen.

Who said that by  having co-op you would be forced to play it in co-op? You can always play alone.

As for your question, NWN did very fine with co-op, as did Tales of Vesperia, Secret of Mana, Baldur´s Gate, etc.

I would LOVE a coop loot game set in DA's universe, not a MMO though. An action-RPG with 4-player coop would be awesome.

The thing is, Bioware made the determination before they even started on the engine that DA wouldn't be a multi-player game, and since DA2 is using the same engine, DA2 won't be getting it.
