The multiplayer would need a seperate team working on on it and if  the resources are not availible then it means the single player team would have to build two working games in a sense.

As I've said before, ship the main game, then work on co-op as DLC if it's profitable to do so.

Dragon Age 2 will probably just have connection to the servers, and that will be the "online" feature, although the article says: "every one of EA’s releases will have an online component, both downloadable content and online play". Maybe someone at Bioware can comment on the article?

For all those who don't want a multiplayer campaign, I have raised a topic thread, or participated in one, around the Origins forums somewhere about a comparison to the Diablo 2 game. Most awesome multiplayer game I have ever tried, despite the many things Blizzard could have worked on.

Honestly, if you don't like multiplayer, that's fine, but if you wanna go ahead and try to screw up the fun for those who wish to combine their role playing experiences with other people, then that is just horrible! It was already horrible enough that Origins was not multiplayer at all, least not for the PS3, but now we got others spitting **** out that neither should any DA:O franchise. It is time to step up the next generation of gaming and put PS Network to good use!

I dont even know where to start with this dribble I'm seeing..
I used to play my games SP only so maybe thats where this is coming from; are some of you just afraid your going to have bad experiences so you avoid it entirely ? Well if so I have news for you, as you may have heard before, the world is a BIG place, and everyone is different, and if you think WoW is any different you would be sadly mistaken.  The only thing that puts WoW in its own category deeming it utterly 'ridiculous' to even give it honorable mention for a MP replacement,is ah, that it requires you to pay a monthly fee for the priviledge. Im sorry maybe all of you can AFFORD that, but I can't, andI still deserve  to play with my friends, or would you take that from me too ?

I agree also about Diablo comment, as its a great fun game, though honestly for my tastes its a bit too much hacky-slashy, ''but'' with a friend along by-my-side Im more-than-willling to have some fun .

If Bioware could do it with nwn1, and give I and friends a extremely pleasureable Online experience in MP, && a  amazing experience in SP , then those of you here berating those wanting good MP are just doing so  for the fun of heckling. Or are you Bioware employees hoping to avoid MP and avoid a little extra programming thus procuring your profits for you and your shareholdres ? I could not blame you if you were I guesss, but honestly I think society suffers for it when good people want to 'share' a role playing experience with their friends and even just some causal acquaintances, because imho, we are all better when we work together ( as humans we need social interaction yes ?), and its not only games where that happens, but it certainly is a place it can provide a bit of fun and engagement . We all need interaction, and games have a ability to do that really well, and definitely helps bridge the divide that sometimes geography presents us , and in the process might just help you meet your best new friend; isnt' that worth having a 'OPTION' for ?

I bought DAO and I still might play it, atm I am not entirely sure, but I can guarantee you i wont have as good a time at it, as I did with nwn1/2 because I like some, enjoy sharing a experience with a good friend or even a acquiantance because Im a social creature like the rest of you <some of you anyway>. I massively enjoyed creating a MOD for nwn1/2 knowing it would allow others,- and maybe even myself to share that MOD together online and have some good fun. That is missing entirely in DAO and as a result I find myself atm anyway, having a hard time even getting into the SP experience , knowing Im alone doing so. YMMV, but thats my story

Regardless of it being optional or not, producing a multiplayer component would require some of the budget that should be spent on the singleplayer.

So what has changed ?

Tell that to Bioware who is responsible for a game called NWN1 . 

I dont recall hearing anything about screams from them for profit loss, but if you can find it be my guest I"d love to read it.
