I don't want to jump on this bandwagon, but in truth the same can be said about me for SWtOR. I feel so let down by that game. So far, this announement just has me really nervous about what direction they could take.

THe game that is not even announced yet?  What about it is so disappointing?  I mean it is an MMO and I do not really play those...but I am a bit curious what was so horrible about it.

If you mean SWtOR there are videos all over youtube. And the website has been up for well over a year, if not longer. I was on that site when it first went live. I defended BioWare because there was a whole lot of complaining at the first images and announcements. I was wrong to do so.

Yay, all we need now is a fully voiced Hawke and a "dynamic combat system", and I'll know what to name him. "Shepard Hawke".

I'm going to go make Hawke Shepard in Mass Effect 2 right now.

After I'll write a review on Dragon Age 2.

Remember the DA:O marketing campaign? With all the blood and gore and action-packed trailers and marilyn manson music?

You guys are getting too worked up about these marketing blurbs. If DA:O could have old school RPG combat despite the way it was marketed DA2 can too.

I wonder if you'll get to control your party members or not.

How will mages and archers play if it's a hack and slash.

I'd rather have atrocious marketing over atrocious gameplay. That much is for certain.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling that EA wanted the gameplay to be a little bit closer to the marketing this time around.

It is going to be nothing like witcher rofl. They want to appeal to the masses by taking away tactical game[play and implementing rhymical gameplay.

Thats my feeling too. Admittedly, we haven't seen any gameplay yet so I'll give them a pass there. But the marketing for DA2 is right in the "EXTREME!" heavy metal, action, action, action style they tried with Origins. I have a feeling they're trying to make the gameplay more like how the Sacred Ashes trailer was and less pause and play.

I'll give BioWare the benefit of the doubt for now, but I'm not liking too much of what I've read so far.

But it was was made clear what DA:Origins would be before the trailers. A classic RPG.

Here, we know nothing. Yet.
We only have legitimate fears.

Hopefully, Bioware does not shift away from what was so great in DA:O's combat and adds new improvements and does not adopt the ME2 "improve=remove" formula. Let's wait for more info. As for me, I will also wait and be alert at the same time. Bioware of these days is not the old Bioware it used to be whether you like it or not. It is sad, but true.

The blurb everyone's up in arms about just sounds like PR-speak. All it means is that they want fans to anticipate the sequel being better than the original.

I mean, they were hardly going to call it "Dragon Age: More of the Same," were they?

I would appreciate a slimmer talent pool. At the End of the game I had 3 sorts of shield damage talents for my warrior. That's not necessary. I turned on tactics for them.

The important talents like shield bash, dirty fighting, nightmare and healing are the ones I triggered by clicking.

It means it's being designed with consoles in mind.

Perhaps what they mean is more spells for Mages, more weapons choices for tanks, more for all party members involving gear and tactics. Perhaps, too, there will be more choices such as Clerics and Rangers.

Battles might be more strategic than they were and require a good strategy plan in order to win them, rather than just overwhelm the player with a multitude of Baddies to make them seem hard. Less hack'n'slash and more thinking through a battle plan instead. Perhaps a stealthed Rogue will be crucial in evaluating a battle plan, and not just place traps and open locks.

It's not all doom and gloom. Bioware are aware that they have a lot to live up to with DAO. Their reputation depends on having a good, solid sequel that lives up to, if not bypasses DAO, in both content and storyline. I think people are dissappointed because there's no more Alistair, Morrigan or Leliana, having become attached to them. I felt the same way about Imoen in BG and was pleased to see her make a comeback. As Morrigan herself said, "You'll never see me again". Bioware were telling you it's over and done with. The Blight is over. Perhaps this time warring nations in Ferelden will be at each others' throats in a bid for power and you are somehow connected with it. The Rogue could develop into a Cunning spy. I'm fairly certain DA2 won't be a dissappointment, but whether it will live up to the standards that DAO has set remains to be seen. I would imagine that having different voiceovers for all members of the party is expensive and would probably not include the voiced interactions that took place in DAO.

Hopefully it means that they finally do away with the KOTOR era crap where someone swings a sword, you run like 20 feet away, the swing comes nowhere near hitting you yet you some how take damage from it.

If your real-time is gonna be that wonky it might as well as be turn based like a JRPG.

the combat is probably geared for the casual gamer witch means little rpg elements and made so a 5 year old can play even though the game says mature

Love it if the combat turned into a general JRPG like system (note, not FF). But thats far too different from DAO it would be silly :(

Just hope its not as "dull". It did get a little boring half way through simply clicking and then pressing "1" to shield bash, for instance. Just felt too hands off, especially with well coordinated tactics set up.

I don't care if its more "action oriented" as long as I still have the ability to take direct control over my squad mates in combat. Anything other than that I can work with.
