C'mon Bioware. You know you want to. The main character will have Full Voice Over, right? If SWTOR can do it, so can DA2

Very likely in my opinion. Since we now play as Hawk, surviver of a blight, I see no reason for them not to do a full voiceover. Actualy the full voice over is prolly one of the main reasons for them to limit our options when it comes to who we are going to play as

Since it's only 1 character this time around and some (some, yes) of the fans have asked for it I think they're going to do it. Alas.

No, no, NO! Voiced player-characters detaches the player from what should be their own character! It isn't THEM, it isn't THEIR voice... it is that of a pre-existing template with a slightly malleable script!

From main page:
BioWare has confirmed that Dragon Age 2, the sequel to the 2009 RPG of
the Year, is in development. Dragon Age 2 progresses the epic saga, as
you take on the role of Hawke, a survivor of the Blight and the hero who
will change the world forever
Seems like i didnt spell it right though

I hope they keep the silent protagonist tradition, having the main character have a voice would ruin the game for many people.

That would be sad...

I dont mind either way actualy. I am pretty much able to roleplay with a voice as well. While it would ruin the game for some I am sure it would also attract a lot of people.

Yes! Absolutely. Seeing as there seems to be one main "champion" this time around, a full voiceover would make complete sense. This is great news.

for me playing a protagonist without a voice makes me feel detached from the world around my character. It's not like it's completely game breaking but it's a nice thing to have.

No VO worked in a game like NWN where you didn't have any VO at all, but in DAO it was really awkward to have everyone speaking and having my character be a mute.

I would prefer a talking PC, but either way, I'm, buying the game.
I would prefer the PC to be a bit more animated. The non-blinking-non-expressive-puppet we control (who occasionally crosses her arms) was the weakest part of the game.

VO will decrease the amount of content. I for one would want more areas to explore and more quests to do than a voiced character.

If there is VO, I have a feeling it's going to follow the same pattern as the sections in the Fade with Morrigan/Wynne/Irving/Jowan and the Leliana's Song model. And I have a feeling there will be VO.

This. I don't mind a silent PC (or else i wouldn't have enjoyed JE and DA) - but it always felt strange to play a mute character, that is considered the hero, yet is just a background actor in every cutscene.

I hope you can play as female character too, not just only male... I'm fine with the concept of "only" playing human.. but all classes should be open for play, yes?
I don't want Bioware go all Mass Effect or The Witcher over Dragon Age 2...
I have a suggestion for a male VO: Peter Stormare (Isair)
OR
David Warner (Jonoleth Irenicus) "You will suffer! You will ALL suffer!"
Female VO: Well, since I think Morrigan will be in the game somehow... The awesome female voice actress is gone for the female PC (forgot the voice actress name)

PC Vo is awesome, I'm all for that. But if it's true I have to play a pre existing character, Hawke in this case, I will be extremely upset. I don't think I would've bothered with Origins if it forced you to play Alistair, for example. And I like Alistair. This new guy looks like Leonidas and he fights with a spear. I'd never play that. But that's off topic.

generic name that could fit either gender and possibly different races as well

I for one would welcome a voiced PC. Cinematic conversations lose a lot of immersion when all your character ever does is stare into the distance with a slightly befuddled expression.

Since we only have two characters we can be (M/F Hawke) ala Mass Effect 2, it seems like that's the direction they're goin.
So long as the VO is good, I don't mind.
Some might say it would interfere with the role playing, but I don't sound anything like Mark Meer and it hasn't hurt Mass Effect for me. So go for it.

Just because you assume the role of hawke, doesn't mean you can make a custom hawke. Be it male or female or what have you. Just like Shepard.

The protagonist, His/her name is Hawke.
He/she WILL have a voice.
The whole POINT of having you play the role of a premade character is BECAUSE they will be fully voiced.
With Bioware it's easy to make a correlation with Shepard. Think of other premade heroes from other games who are voiced. Ezio from Assassin's Creed, for example.
It's really nothing new, and there's nothing necessarily wrong with it. It's just different - he WILL be fully voiced, all bow before the mighty dialogue wheel!
which will undoubtedly be remade into a 'thought wheel' a la THE WITCHER, to better fit the setting.

Already confirmed that the character will be customizable...locked to Human though. But gender and class are up for grabs.
And Mass Effect was fantastic. Having the PC be voiced was loads better. The cinematic experience in that game is in every way better than in DAO.

Yes while many recall the glory of Baldur's Gate, and other games, the truth is voice acting is becoming big business. Now that it is filling rpgs with high quality vo, and even non rpgs, strategy games and mmo's of late, it's just a natural progression.
If they have to put in VO, which they probably do because kids don't like reading dialogue, I guess a me system is best I can hope for.
