Man, and my expectations for this game were so high.
Restricted to just one race. I can't see how that would not mean greatly reduced replay value, when compared to DA:O. The various origin stories, and being able to play the game from the perspectives of different characters from different races and backrounds, was just about the best thing about DA:O.
I SINCERELY hope that this restriction is compensated for by radicaly increases in customization on other levels - appearance, class, fighting styles, magic, etc.
I'm not willing to give up all hope for DA2, as it is Bioware we're talking about, but suddenly I'm a lot less optimistic. I can say that I won't be buying the game until reviews have convinced me that it's not an overtly linear RPG-lite. If it turns out to be that, I won't be buying it at all.
I'm hoping that future revelations about the game are not this disappointing.
I bet this restriction means that we'll have a fully voiced character, and that the demands for such a thing were a major factor behind the choise to restrict us to one race. I wish such a concept as fully voiced central character had never been invented.
