And the English comment was fantastic. Kudos.
Thank you.I do try.
As long as DA2 's storyline is fantastic and well-written,then I'm buying.
But I've been dissapointed by sequels before (NWN2,KotOR II) so fingers crossed that doesn't happen again.

Meaning, that if DA2 doesn't continue your character from DAO, then I believe I can live with it.
But I can understand if some people find this a major disappointment.

I don't know whether to be mad about this or just disappointed.

Dragon Age 2 thrusts players into the role of Hawke, a penniless refugee who rises to power to become the single most important character in the world of Dragon Age. Known to be a survivor of the Blight and the Champion of Kirkwall, the legend around Hawke’s rise to power is shrouded in myth and rumor. Featuring an all-new story spanning 10 years, players will help tell that tale by making tough moral choices, gathering the deadliest of allies, amassing fame and fortune, and sealing their place in history. The way you play will write the story of how the world is changed forever.

While I do enjoy having fun with our fans, I am not joking about this. The player character is a human (either male or female) with the last name of Hawke. Dragon Age 2 is the story of Hawke. From the Dragon Age 2 press release:Dragon Age 2 thrusts players into the role of Hawke, a penniless refugee who rises to power to become the single most important character in the world of Dragon Age. They've answered it in another thread. Yes, you can be female.Eludajae wrote...
I am going to ask this question again another has already asked this and Chris Priestly has not answered this. Are you limited to a male only character?

Pity. I would have loved to buy and play the game.
With just a gender choice, no other playable races
- sorry. No can do.
Maybe some day another studio will pick up
where the Neverwinter Nights 1 - Hordes of the Underdark
and the Community Expansion Pack set standards and forge
a legend of their own.

Well, the choices you made that shaped the races of Ferelden and later determined the fate of Amaranthine can still be relevant, if the Warden is indeed gone or elsewhere.LadyVaJedi wrote...
To me it seems like having the saved game info wasn't worth it now. Being able to play different races, and between the choice of male or female was a big selling point

I must reiterate the disappointment that this announcement has caused. If this is trying to appeal to a wider audience, it is very ignorant and disrespectful to the fans of the original who loved the origin stories and the multiple race options.
QFT. Mass Effect is enough. I want Dragon Age 2, not some love child of Mass Effect and Tolkien that you just have decided to call Dragon Age 2. I thought Dragon Age was a return to your roots? Now you take out all choice of who your character can be? Not to sound like a whiner, but with a predetermined name, and the inability to be anything but human, it sounds like this is going more in the direction of Mass Effect, not a return to your 'roots.'
I totally agree. The reason I loved Dragon Age: Origins was because it wasn't any other game's clone. So, we get Mass Effect time warps back to the middle ages. Instead of MY story, I get to live Hawke's story like every other darned game out there. How disappointing. I cannot understand why you would take a winning concept and slash it apart! So what, we get a paragraph blurb on our "background"? Truly bad news.

Chairon, just wait for the modders to get their hands on this game. I'm sure there'll be some way to play as a non-human.Chairon de Celeste wrote...

Who wants to play a human? Human are to tall and ... and .. and to human.
Kick the voiceover for the hero an give us the option for a free race choice ... thats the minimum

Still, it doesn't sound like any other character creation part has been cut out, the story description doesn't specifically mention one gender or the other.

I'm continuing on with Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It's a lonely game, but at least I get to be my own unique character.
I suspect you are trying to pull in more of that large demographic, the young adult male with this change in your concept. What you lose in the process was the client base you were building among women of all ages. We loved Origins...we loved the concepts, the back story, the writing, the romance. So, now are you going to give us the flat unemotional shoot-em-up that is Mass Effect? I've tried to get into Mass Effect a couple of times and it just bores me.....bang, bang, kill the bad guy, bang bang, kill more bad guys.....I keep getting told there's a story there, but I've yet to find it. Kind of like a book you can't get into far enough to find the meat. How sad!
