Just gone off the game. Was realy looking forward to it as well. Again I see EA influence in this.
That's what EA does. They bleed every company they buy out dry and leave them behind for another one.
Yeh I know. EA wants their money and they force developers to make games quickly and without original content. So yeh looks like we are getting Mass Effect 2 set in the middle ages. At least there wont be any thermal clips to reload with.
Update: Later in the Dragon Age, the Grey Wardens reverse engineered Darkspawn technology and now your blades have special power crystals that you have to reload or else your shatter. Same with staves, or else they run out of power and are useless.

I would like to play my Elf from the game
Me too. I'm disappointed they decided to cut the race choices out of the game entirely. But I guess I'm also for the character has a voice aspect, so I guess that makes it a little better (for me anyway). Sighhh I'm going to miss the whole "OH BECAUSE IM AN ELF?" dialogue that would always make me chuckle.

Hey, does anyone know where Kirkwall is? Because thats where Hawke is the champion... or at least eventually is.
Also, if we're supposed to think like a General, does that mean we'll have more opportunities for commanding armies? Hmm...
Kirkwall is east of Cumberland in the Free Marches, according to the Thedas map wallpaper (which has been my wallpaper for several months now, pretty much know where all the towns are now lol)

Edit: Thanks! It's in a very odd spot, covered by the line. So it looks like we'll be in the Free Marches, then? Interestingleonia42 wrote...

Guys is this really that surprising? I mean look what they did to Mass Effect. I just hope they won't scrap all the elements that made Dragon Age awesome like they did to ME. (Trust me I love ME2 but I love ME1 more.)
They already did scrap a lot of elements on Dragon Age Origins, they scrapped the playable races, they scrapped a possibile character import, and there's probably more scrapping coming.

While there are multiple races in the game, like elves, dwarves, etc, in Dragon Age 2 you play a human character.
This is very disappointing, taking away the chance to experience the story from the viewpoint of different races. If it isn't too much trouble could I be informed of the reasoning behind the choice to remove the origin stories.
I would take it as confirmation that you do in fact get to play as Morrigans child, I always suspected this but I always wondered how they would implement dawrves and elves as PCs since Morrigan is human and any charcter would have to be either half dwarf, half elf or full human. The fact that you can only play as human confirms that you are Morrigans child.
Yes and did you notice in the concept are that the female and the male PCish looking main characters both had some sort of magi staff JUST AS LONG AS I GET TO PLAY A GIRL!!!!! no way would they take that from us. ps all half dwarf/half elf/half human end up being human- dominate genes

We will get to play a female Hawke or did I miss a thread about this?
female or male human is confirmed:
Chris Priestly wrote...
While I do enjoy having fun with
our fans, I am not joking about this. The player character is a human
(either male or female) with the last name of Hawke. Dragon Age 2 is the
story of Hawke. From the Dragon Age 2 press release:
Dragon Age 2 thrusts players into the role of Hawke, a
penniless refugee who rises to power to become the single most
important character in the world of Dragon Age. Known to be a survivor
of the Blight and the Champion of Kirkwall, the legend around Hawke’s
rise to power is shrouded in myth and rumor. Featuring an all-new story
spanning 10 years, players will help tell that tale by making tough
moral choices, gathering the deadliest of allies, amassing fame and
fortune, and sealing their place in history. The way you play will write
the story of how the world is changed forever.
But overall i like where BioWare is going with this idea, hopefully they improve much to the game. Here is to expecting a fun game to play until the next big thing.
Good luck to you BioWare.

Yeah, except Loghain was the confidant of a rebel King trying to reclaim his lands. Hawke is basically a Ferelden in the Free Marches trying to make a name for himself. So its going to be interesting, I think. Hopefully they can pull it off. I play as a Human most of the time anyway, so I'm not TOO put off by this restriction, but as long as it doesn't turn into another Mass Effect 2, I'll be fine with it.General Zombie444 wrote...
From how i am hearing this, Hawke's story sounds slightly similar to Loghain's story. Both rose from provety and eventually became a symbol to the people.

Oh, so everything that was established in DAO is now pointless?
(snip)
DA:O is far from pointless, as you'll learn when you play DA2.
I've talked with Design quite a bit about Hawke, the DA2 lead character. There were a lot of directions that they could have gone, but ultimately, I think they made the right choice to tell the best story in this installment. Between now and launch, you'll learn more about Hawke and the story, which will shed a little more light on why Hawke was the hero that the world (i.e. this story) needed.
Which version of not pointless?
Part of what made Dragon Age Origins so completely great was the utterly new way of handling the Player Character, and the multitude of choices that came with each and every background.
Nearly every game under the sun, apart from MMORPGs, stick you in the singular role of a set character, and gives a less than veiled illusion of ‘choice’. Dragon Age actually made you feel like you couldn’t do the same thing twice unless you really tried, and it actually managed to feel like a completely different experience from one origin to the other, creating an almost endless cycle of discovery and replay.
That, in my humble option, wasn’t even done in Mass Effect. Paragon and Renegade felt like the same choices with different intentions, and only slightly varied outcomes (not withstanding the major choice at the end).
Sorry, but practically everything that might have been necessary about playing DA:O can probably be watered down in a booklet form, and thrown at people who didn’t bother playing the first game anyway, which is probably the whole point anyway.
No. Take two darned years and develop a full game worthy of the first, but don’t you dare come at me with, “This is a sequel, but we needed a ‘Shepard’ to make it work. Don’t worry, you can still make choices.”
If I wanted this nonsense, I’d stick with games like Zelda.
Edit: On second thought, I'd stick with Fable III, and I really wasn't that impressed with Fable II.

Overall i imagne that the game will still be an RPG but, with new improvent to combat and such(like in Mass Effect 2).
Overall i believe we should only start our angey blogs and rants until we see the trailer.

Says who? This sounds like a ton of speculation to me. We hardly know anything about the game and you're throwing things out like that? Be careful with what you say, please. And back up things with proof.Siradix wrote...

This isn't even really like Mass Effect since Shephard interacts(mostly) with all his/her old pals. It makes for an epic yarn and that's why I love playing that game. I am sad Bioware. Very sad.

I'm disappointed. Not so much with the lack of racial choices, since I just played 2 classes at human, but the lack of continuity. I mean, I loved all the characters in Dragon Age. I wanted to continue with my character and develop her story. I understand fresh characters make it fun, but come on! Shale, Morrigan, Leliana, Alistair! There was a story there that isn't finished.

Thats why you just make the same character again and add Jr. to the title, duh !!
