Since there is only one race, I would expect a more in depth character customization engine. May I suggest that you review some of the third party mods and simply integrate these. The modders out there have done a bang-up job of giving us increased choices in character customization.
Although I am sad that I cannot continue with my many, and I mean many DA:O characters, DA2 will give me a chance to explore more of Thedas. Yaaaa! I know I'm probably going to get trashed for the following comment, but it must be said. I do not want another celibate character (cough, Awakenings).

As an side note, they have said that Hawke is from a Blight, but they haven't said which Blight.

So there goes the continuation of the Wardens storyline. There goes my romance and my decisions. What an utter failure. So sad.
yeah same for me my characters ending suddenly just seems realy depressing kinda wish hed just died in many ways would have been better for him. also if hawke is what people call you in this game they could have thought of something better. Shepard sounds right Hawke just seems a bit tacky
Hawke just sounds like awkward. Hehe. If DA2 really steps away from the concept of origins, and focuses on one main character like ME does then I'm seriously disappointed. Especially with the Morrigan storyline. Its not finished.
But I'm losing faith in this company anyway. Look at Awakening. Its a bug ridden abomination, yet the latest patch 1.03 is over three months old. Is that what Bioware calls support nowadays?

"Hawke" is just an animal with an extra "e" to make it sound more "special".
So the Female of Myke Hawke surely should be Lady Chicke, shouldn't it?

I still trust Bioware to make a great game, but I just wish they hadn't made the poor decision of forcing us into a role we may not want to play in.

It may come with a good story (and likely a good amount of bugs) but whats the point of that. I thought DA was to be the spiritual successor of Baldurs Gate. Seriously when done right a great sequel can work wonders by building on existing characters. It was so awesome to find Minsc in BG2 again. So awesome to romance Viconia or the Druid girl because your character actually had a relation with those characters. But the way this "Hawke" guy sounds Bio is throwing all this out the window.
Why bother with the complexities of such things like character import etc. if you can just write a new book. *sigh*

I can only hope I do not get pegged into the Light/Dark, Paragon/Renegade, Good/Evil Fallout 3, black and white alignment system that seems to dominate most rpgs today. I still enjoy my middle options, and I like options to have impact that sometimes arn't good or evil.

That is essentially the point I was trying to make...I'd rather see the warden again or even be able to create a new warden if we want, not be stuck in Hawke's cement shoes like a lemon.nYshak wrote...

dissapointing but i will wait to see gameplay video before i get nerd rage which probally wont happen untill next year sometime. But what does kinda ****** me off is my wardens stry is over at awakenings?? to me that is some BS where the F did morrigan go? Mybe just maybe this "hawke" is the child that morrigan concevied and is the blight surviver.
Hawke is Morrigan's child? Hmm, I didn't even think of that. You may have just completely shattered the entire story by inadvertently spoiling the game's plot twist.

Its funny in a way that game developers seem to believe they need to have a fixed main character. Voice over is a must of course. According to many people I've spoken to this helps to identify with the hero. I however beg to differ. By actually designing a hero, like in ME, you risk losing players simply because they cannot identify with the main character. The reason for mass orphans with amnesia stranding on an island in RPGs is that the more the main character is a blank sheet of paper the easier it becomes for the player to make up their own hero. Shepard from ME is a good written character by all accounts. Yet I can't stand to listen to/look at that guy for more than 5mins. Thats the beauty of DAO! You don't like to be a dwarf? Don't be one. Want to start of rich and with a family - become a human noble. Wanna fight your way up? City elf.

Well that's disappointing if the character is predetermined.
Probably a necessary sacrifice to get the game to achieve the level of success as Mass Effect 2. I suspect a voiced main character is going to be standard going forward.
So while we probably get alot of say in who 'hawke' is or what he/she looks like and so forth since it is going to be fully voiced I guess they need a last name of him/her.
Still how can 'Hawke' be the name of a dwarf? Oh well. I am able and eager to roleplay any character whether I create it entirely or out of a set of guidelines like in Mass Effect or PS: Torment it is all the same to me.
sorry but DA sold double of ME2. i read in some game news forum. sorry i dont have links but its true.

I want my Origins story!! Don't you haste yourself EA games.... It could get real messy when the fans start a riot!!! And perhaps there would be no fans afterwards to buy Dragon Age 3!!! I'm not gonna say the game suck because we haven't seen it yet. I'm just saying like they do in Star Wars.... "I've got a bad feeling about this"
Hopefully I'm wrong an it will be a kick ass game!! Either Way... I'm going to play it!!!
