Do not become Mass Effect in Thedas Bioware please.
When I want to shoot a lot of things I play Mass Effect. When I feel like disappearing into another reality I play Dragon Age.

Many people will be thoroughly disappointed if 'Hawke' is the PC's first name.

If you look at the concept art of the main male character, you can clearly see one of his arms is almost a talon, dragon-like really. This makes me think of the fact that Morrigan's child has the soul of an old god, one that had once resided in the archdemon, aka a dragon...
Like I said, this is just my opinion, nothing but pure speculation. I'm just wondering if anyone else has considered this storyline.

"Hi, I'm Hawke Hawke, I'm here to save your village. And kids, don't do drugs!" *heavy metal music starts to play as winged skulls spew blood from their eyesockets and our pre-determined hero leaps 40 feet into the air to slay them with an impossibly large jRPG sword*

o, I'm just curious. Am I the only one that thinks that Hawke is actually going to end up being the child of Morrigan?
They said he isn't.

They are going to lose a huge chunk of there fan base if they make it pre-determined. I probably won't be bother as much aslong as i can choose between gender and customize my character. I never made a single good looking elf or dwarf Lol.
The way it's looking we may not even get that luxury.
Hopefully it will turn out like ME 1 & 2 so we are stuck with one character but can at least change his appearance.

I'm okay with DA turning into ME2, as long as Garrus is in it. Maybe he could be a griffon? He already has the exoskeleton, he just needs some feathers ...
Garrus is your only romance option for maleHawke or femHawke in DA 2. Turians are a new race, they crashland in Thedas and give humans guns to fight darkspawn with.

That's the only way for a Masseffectization of Dragon Age to work!
Garrus The Griffon!

Chris shot that theory down in another thread. Forget which one though. Hawke is just some guy...Abispa wrote...
Is it possible that "Hawke" could be Morrigan's child? If so, that could mean that he or she could be an elf or a dwarf since I believe that children in Dragon Age assume the race of their fathers' [which makes no sense biologically, but I guess it makes the DA universe easier on game designers].

Yup, the Human Commoner Origin rears its ugly head at last!

The lack of other races and origins can certainly be made up for in a big way by a well written and original origin story for Hawke that includes full voiced dialogue. It also depends on them getting a decent voice actor to play the main otherwise full voiced dialogue becomes a negative rather than a positive!

I have always picked human as well, and it sounds like they're going the mass effect/KOTOR route, a pre-defined back story and race but you pick gender, looks, personality, etc. Not a bad thing as I hugly enjoyed ME1.
On another note though I'm a little dissapointed that you can't, from the little we've been told so far, import you DA:O character like in ME2. hopefully the choices you picked in DAO are imported into the other, especially if it picks off right where the blight ended, ie the end of DAO. maybe bump into your DAO character if he is still alive.
What's the point in having elves and dwarves in the DA universe if you can't play as them?
Kind of a waste if you ask me.
Yeah, that's one of the reasons I don't think I'll be buying this one.
Wait. You guys are asking why there is a fleshed out world?

"He who introduces the New Order makes enemies of all those who have done well under the Old, and finds only half-hearted defenders in men who would do well under the new."
Basically saying in this case, change, be it good or bad is always going to meet some resistance.
If it keeps to just a Human character, it wont bother ME too much because that what I prefer to play as. But I know others will not like that so I cant help but feel they are not going to like this one bit.
But I trust in Bioware, and to me, more Dragon Age is always a good thing.
And even though they said way back when, that we wouldnt be able to import our character from DA:O into later installments, it still stings.
Let's just wait and see how this rolls.
