dissapointing but i will wait to see gameplay video before i get nerd rage which probally wont happen untill next year sometime. But what does kinda ****** me off is my wardens stry is over at awakenings?? to me that is some BS where the F did morrigan go? Mybe just maybe this "hawke" is the child that morrigan concevied and is the blight surviver.
Hawke is Morrigan's child? Hmm, I didn't even think of that. You may have just completely shattered the entire story by inadvertently spoiling the game's plot twist.
Its been confirmed with a link that Hawke is NOT morrigans child, unfortunatley i am to lazy to track down said link tee hee(manly giggles)
LOL thanks for letting me know then.
well there goes my theory or was that the story and soo many people saw it coming they scraped it? i wonder.......

Got to be his last name. How could we be a female with a first name like Hawke?
Question since the character on the website is male i doubt you can be female might be wrong but I personally think you wont be able to be female.

Replayability might take a hit compared to the many origin stories of Origins, and it is a bit sad to not have the option to be other races, but I see a lot of potential upside to the predetermined character. You still get to pick your class, after all. Looking forward to hearing more!
Oh, and in response to the above - yes, confirmed you can be male or female.

1: The main character in DA2 is not Morrigan's.
2: He is a survivor of the Blight from Ferelden.(The blight never went beyond Ferelden. Some of the war bands of the darkspawn did cross Ferelden and went to Orlias but they are not a horde)
3: The child will likely be a villain then.
Hope I am correct.

I am going to hope they take the good of the origins, compelling story, responsive world, running into people from your past, and combine that with the class system. I'm going to really hope that the difference between playing a mage and a warrior is more then just one charges and one hurls fireballs in a given combat encounter. I'm hoping for story differences.

Oh this is just wonderful! What the hell is wrong with these people? WHY WHY WHY???!!!! I was soo excited for Dragon Age 2 and now I could care less. This is the most stupid thing ever. I'm not wasting a single dime on this game. I think the designers had a lobotomy or something. I love how they were sooo pleased with Dragon Age Origin's success and now they change everything and anticipate the same results. UM HELLO NO! Seriously, why do people have to screw with things that have nothing wrong with them. When they announced Dragon Age 2, they also killed it!!! ... And one more thing, if this doesn't concern OUR platyers that we spent so much time on customizing and building relationships with companions then this so called "sequel" should be called something else because IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DRAGON AGE! I'm so glad I waited all those months for great news. (you guys make me sick)

But haveing a pre-determined character (a la Shepard) does make me wonder where Hawke comes from, after all we know class wise he can be either a warrior, rouge or mage, but to be a mage he has to have been a member of the Circle otherwise he'll be a apostate(or even a maleficar). So, maybe, decideing which class Hawke is might change some aspects of the storyline, and his origins.
(Sorry if this has aleady been touched upon somewhere else, but I haven't it noticed it if it has.)
You are only an apostate if there are enough templars in the area to claim that you are one. I don't know how they normally do things in the Free Marches, maybe free mages are allowed there even when society is not devastated by a Blight?

We do exactly the same in DA:O - gathered the support of dwarves/elves/mages, beat back the blight, saved Ferelden and became the nations hero...

If they do that level of customising, I don't mind them getting rid of some of the combat.L33TDAWG wrote...
well now that they are getting rid of some of the combat and such to make it more appealing and fast paste, i'd like to ask for full scale character creation. Height, weight, arm length, leg length... etc. It'd be pretty awesome, rather than being a warrior with a huge ass blade, that looks small and puny still. Maybe buffer as you get more strength and a glow in your eyes as you get more magic or something. What about more demonic looking as you grow colder and evil. Also a weapon with a chain. That'd be bad ass. What if they added in customizing the blades and handle on your weapon or adding in little details to your armour, that you can attach. THE POSSIBILITIES!

Well, hopefully we won't be referred to as "Warden" all the time now...
keeping in mind we very well may not even be portraying a grey warden in this story, this my be bioware's way of expanding the dragon age universe beyond the grey wardens. Not unlike the star wars universe. Though the jedi take up a good peice of that universe there is more to it than just them. Time will tell. also we don't even know what country the game takes place in either. We might be working within the Orlesian empire.
