Going to have to wait and see how this turns out. I am intrigued... however the more I read these forums (i.e. very little official information has been released yet, so most of these are assumptions/speculations), my main concern is that Dragon Age is being steered the Mass Effect 2 route. I LOVE Mass Effect (1 and 2) and I LOVE Dragon Age... but they are two different games. That is the point that people are trying to make, I think.



Yes, I am disappointed that there doesn't appear to be the continuation of my Warden or, following that train of thought, I won't get to see my fellow companions (again, these are assumptions). I really came to care about my DA companions, because I got to know them so well, they became my family on a fantastic journey.



Ah... Jan 2011 (and again, assuming that is when DA2 comes out) is a looong way away. No point making wild speculations until we hear something more and/or something official.



Until then... off to complete my ME playthrough so I can continue the story of my character in ME2 (again) - love the continuity there... then maybe another DA playthrough from a different POV. ;o)

Neatly expressed. I think that post sums up my feelings about it very well. And I hope Bioware takes the general sentiment into account (i.e. develop Dragon Age's own strengths, rather than changing it to a different type of game).

My thoughts excatly. I mean, I trust bioware will make a great game, but it seems like their axeing one of DA:O's major strong points and one of my favorite aspects.

I wonder if this decision has anything to do with the amazing looking Witcher sequel... or if it's just strait up ME inspired.

Umm, there are more cogent reasons for prefering a character who is fully voiced.  In the case of Bioware's games, it means the PC will actually emote, and not stick out as the one person in the world who doesn't.

I dont like this idea of a Hawke person. If he/she is so much of a "champion", why did he escape the blight? Why didn't he/she stay and join the main character in Lothering? So far, Hawke seems like a coward... Also, what will happen to our characters? Hawke is described as becoming "the single most important character" in all of Dragon Age, wasn't this the point of Origins? Wasn't our character supposed to become the most important? So far, I'm not very happy about this Hawke person. All I really want to know is what happened to our Origins character, because to me,  they are more of a hero than Hawke because they stayed and fought the Blight. -____-

I must admit I feel a little sceptical, but so far I'm keeping my fingers crossed because of Bioware's rep. They haven't let us down since ME1 or the first Dragon Age - and if this is the direction they're taking the franchise, we shouldn't judge them till we know the whole plan.



I enjoyed both Dragon Age and the ME series, and while I do feel sad that some of the things which distinguished DA from ME will be gone, I'm waiting to see if Bioware's writers can pull off a new direction without losing the spirit of DA. And at the end of the day, let's face it; there are only so many Blights we can quell, and only so many Wardens we can play

now now guys i have a theory okay, personaly i think that Hawke is like Revan, he has programed memories however Hawke is relly the warden who is out doin his thing when he gets his/herself KO'd really bad. for some reson or another some mage comes along and is like "MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA" and reprograms The Warden's memories.(this was probably done for the pethora of endings that there are avilable in Dragon Age Orgions) and if you where not human makes you one so as to sute your memories, because seriusly who ever herad of the dwarf framer orgion???????? and drops you off in the free mraches because seriusly if a nation is divided in to city states there will always be war and do the Wardens do best? win wars!(this also explians how you could be a Mage yet not go through a sperate orgion.)so Hawke go's and become King/Queen of the Free Marches(after killing the big baddy of course!) comes in contact with one of his old buddies has all of his memories come back and declares war on Orlais who just attacked Ferelden (big cliff hanger, bigger if you Marryed Anora/Alistair!)

SO in the end Hawke is and yet isent The Warden as he will likely be differnt in apperance somtimes in race and gender but the most likely of all Personality, i just hope that Hawke dosent become all serius like Shepard i want some one with a sense of humor!

Im not sure if Bioware has actually done the right thing with just introducing us to one, I think the reason I loved Origins is you had so much option with your character, whether you we're male, female, Human, Elf or Dwarf being stuck with just a male or female human kind of takes the joy of creation out of it, I know they have added a voice this time, but surely they could have just used the same voice with the other races, by using an age cap on the character, so that you don't have an older character with a younger voice, oh well! if anyone is good at making RPG's it's bioware so hopefully this choice will be worth it :')

So far your theory has had the biggest appeal for me, perhaps you should become a script write for Bioware, because that would make one hell of a good game! the endless possibilities, and everything would fit in so well, as well as Flemeth being introduced into DA:2 she could possibly slip in a few hints to your character, but being Flemeth she would not give enough information to your character that it would actually help in regaining any sense of your history or past.
Ahh how I wish your theory would come true!

Hawke exists within the DA:O timeline. Hawke is not RevanWarden.

Well he was being born and the time, this takes place like 18 years after the blight was defeated or something, some years later.

Not true. Hawke is fully grown when S/He flees Lothering with his/her family. The game takes place over 10 years, the first year or two over-lapping with the events in Origins.

Well does anybody know if we can customize (Male/Female, skincolour, hair etc) Hawke, just like Shepard (body adjustments would be nice)?
