So by looks of it, if this is true, going to be forced to play a male char? not good.
Nahh, I am fairly sure u can play as female
Hawke is a last name. You can be female.
Hmm, we play as Hawke

Yeah wasn't that obvious? Sort of bizarre how that rumor came from nowhere.
Bioware has never made a game, well except for that iPhone thing, where you could not be a female.

Wow if we really are foced into playing a human that will be a major drag. And who thought that Hawke would be a good name? Come on David Gaider cpuld not think of aomething better than that?
Hawke will be a last name like Shepard so all the NPC's can call you by name, although it's an absolutely ridiculous name. It's like a bad 80s fanfic of the next action hero.
Eyepatch. Cigar. Sparta. He. Is. HAWKE.
Seriously, this THING sounds like Brutal Legend or Fable, not Dragon Age.
"HAWKE" looks like he'd fit in just fine in Gears of War....seems BioWare is aiming for that crowd.

And will Mr. or Ms. Hawke have voiced dialogue like Commander Shepard, or is our valiant protagonist silent again?

So we can't continue the story of our character from DA1 then? Very disappointing that is.
Doesn't look like it. Though I wonder if any of our decisions from DA1 will carry over? I have a feeling we'll be getting a canon version of Origins, let the speculation over who is the father of Morrigan's child begin!

I don't know about that. KotOR locked us into playing a human. So did Jade Empire and Mass Effect. The only games prior to Dragon Age: Origins that allowed race selection were D&D based. On a side note, is it confirmed that Hawke is fully voiced then? I'm barely keeping up with all these threads.

Bioware history starts at Baldur's Gate to me
But ok fine. Since Baldur's Gate they have not done this.

This is the nest question of the moment. Can we play other races? -Nope, Do we have to play as Hawke -Yep. Is the char fully voice? -?
While defining a last name really isn't a big deal. Not being able to choose a race is really surprisiing and disapointing. If the char is fuly voiced, well, that's hardly a good sign for DA2.

They are coming a second a minute aren't they?
I'd love to know if this character has a voice after I almost went into mini meltdown mode a few minutes ago.

"cinematic experience"
"new visual style"
"you can only play as a human"
"no origin stories"
My excitement has pretty much disappeared.
It's starting to look like DA2 = ME in Thedas. No thanks.

Maybe a new "Shepard"-type character? Voiced but pretty fixed.
I think that is the way it is going to work. 'Hawke' will be whoever we want him/her to be. Female or male voice.
I hope we can be an elf or dwarf though and therefore get six voice sets but that might be too much to ask.
Yes, I think that will likely be the case. They will follow the shepard model. Indeed, they already have a canon Hawke on the main page.
So long as we have full control beyond the name, as in ME, it definitely could still work.
And the key features clealry mention you can be a Warrior, Rogue, or Mage. So the core classes remain, and obviously that implies there is character generation in some way.
