My excitement has pretty much disappeared.
It's starting to look like DA2 = ME in Thedas. No thanks.
This.
But I will still keep an eye on this game. I really love the lore in dragon age.

Yep. ME appears to be the new direction of Bioware RPGs.
That is not terrible I love ME, but I would rather they have two different flavors of RPG one being more traditional and the other more cinematic. Oh well.

I agree, I reacted negatively at first to no other reaces, but if that means we get full voice over and the dialoge wheel then I feel the game will much more enjoyable.

Hawke is a last name. You can be female.Okay, now I'm _really_ looking forward to this!
Same Swirl, i wouldn't have got the game if it been a male char perset, and bar Leliana Song, bioware been disapointing of late, and wouldn't put it past them, but i'm glad they haven't gone down that path.

I think the idea of maybe importing your Warden in DA3, and the antagonist being Hawke, is reaaally interesting although I don't know how likely that would be. That could be another reason, besides the voiced dialogue, that we're being locked into playing a predetermined character. I guess it's too early for any speculation like that right now, though.
All in all, I'm looking forward to this (and I do really like the sort of tribal? artwork style of the DA2 page. Excited to find out where this one takes place!)

Looks like we're going to go through the same fiasco as ME2.
A game that is smashing critical and financial triumph? If I was Bioware that would be the sort of fiasco I would want to repeat as often as possible.
I loved ME2, I would rather not every game be like ME2, but I understand that is how this business works.
If we are going to make a ME2 in Thedas make it a really good ME2 in Thedas Bioware that is all I ask.

Sadly. I don't get it- voicing the PC takes away from choices and increases VO costs which means less game in other spots.
I thought the whole point with DA was that it was a different kind of RPG than ME's cinematic style? I like ME, but lets keep ME with ME and DA with DA.

Yeah...they each had their own strong points. Cinematic is okay too...but I don't think they should make an ME/DA hybrid for gameplay and style.Valmy wrote...

I hope that we can still choose to play as the different classes and still choose specialisations.
Indeed... maybe there's a Ladyhawke as well a Captain Navarre! I don't think Hawke will be a unique char but it will be the char we want it to be, like in Origins: Male or Female, Human, Elf or Dwarf... otherwise it will be far from a Bioware Fantasy RPG style and more to Piranha Bytes, CD Projekt, etc, and I'd stick with those for imposed "nameless heroes" or named witchers.

Hawke will be a last name like Shepard so all the NPC's can call you by name, although it's an absolutely ridiculous name. It's like a bad 80s fanfic of the next action hero.
Eyepatch. Cigar. Sparta. He. Is. HAWKE.
Seriously, this THING sounds like Brutal Legend or Fable, not Dragon Age.
"HAWKE" looks like he'd fit in just fine in Gears of War....seems BioWare is aiming for that crowd.
I this day and age that is what sells brock: mediocrity and blandness, just a grueling, shapeless formless grey that's been watered down to the point that it sorta appeals to everyone without really appealing to any one person in particular. If a 13 year old with an Xbox can follow along, and there is something there to catch his gnat like attention span you've got yourself a hit.

I can see this change helping Bioware craft a more directed and engaging story (the Silent Hero is a definite carry-over from 90s RPGs). I just hope they keep the classic RPG feel of the UI & camera on the PC version at least.
Indeed. I think that is the best we can hope for.

Not going to derail the thread with my view about that, but i haven't played ME2, for a very long time and still play DA:O.
