While I'm sure DA2 will be a great game, the forced character certainly is disappointing. I sincerely hope it isn't fully voiced. I remember when DA:O was on the horizon they talked about the dialogue system vs ME's dialogue and how one was one style game while the other was different altogether. I don't want them to make the same style game in a different setting. I find the silent PC much more emotionally engaging, too.

It's foolish to think otherwise.

You are either a male or female human. You are from Kirkwall or you are from...Kirkwall. You are named Something Hawke. You sound like all the other Something Hawke's. You are Good. Or maybe you are Bad.

That's your customization and choices.

For some games, I am 110% perfectly fine with that. With the sheer tonnage of choices, flexibility, and variations they gave you in Origins it's quite the letdown to be Shepard'd in the 'sequel'.

Can understand why you can't play as your warden, or prob have same companions (bar maybe morrigan) so tbh not surpised at this, fully voiced char? judging from Leliana Song this could be a good thing, however, i am worried the game getting watered down to get more sales (even tho DA:O sold alot) and being dictated by what Mass Effect does.
Playing as a human female doesn't bother me, as it's the race i play most anyway, just hope the companions don't become "ME2 soulless dolls"

I kind of liked having your own character in the first game, but who knows, maybe something different will be good.

Especially if your character has his own voice.

I knew it was happening... as such, I am not upset or sad at all. I knew DA2 would be MassEffect-ified because it can tell a story they can ACTUALLY BUILD OFF OF, as opposed to DA1 and the nebulous Warden who can never even be referred to because his race/sex could literally be anything.

People always freak out over the smallest of changes.  Including myself.  I think what has many of us worried however is that the ME template is going to become the Bioware standard.  While I enjoy the ME games for what they are, the last thing I wanted was a DA game that follows the ME rule for making rpgs. (Fixed, full vo'd char, lighter rpg mechanics, etc.)

As I said earlier its a little early to jump straight to that conclusion, but when that's your fear, and you see little things pointing that direction, its hard for me anyways not to head off to races.

*cries* DAO was a great step back to classic RPGs, I don't want DAO to take the ME walk :( I love ME and all but still :(

Male/Female Human referred to my last name? Sounds like a Shepard situation to me, which IMO is fantastic, Mass Effect really nailed having a customisable/role-role play character while still having an engaging cinematic story.

Seems it'll be about Hawke's rise to power....what if he becomes the villain of DA3....think about it , we watch him rise to power and becomes evil. Then a new hero (or origins hero but they would probably be dead by then) rises up to stop him. Just tossing that out there, do what you want with it.

Are we talking about the same game? Cause all I see is a console game where choice sorta matters a bit and the dialogue system was gutted in the sequel to create a group of largely lifeless and artificial characters.

Hey, hey, I think that we should wait and see what happens...I mean, we have a little information about it.

I really want to see what happens, maybe some interesting thing comes out.

Well, that is my opinion. ._.

Hawke HAS to be female if player chooses so. Michelle Pfeiffer was Lady Hawke, after all.

About Morrigan son... who knows, but that woman with white hair on the cover looks an aged Morrigan, much like Flemeth.

Or... BioWare is just introducing new characters like in ME2, letting us forget about those from DAO, just to melt them all together for the third, possibly final, chapter.

That is a great idea, but will see, if it does happen, you get a call from bioware to work for them Image IPB

Did we play the right game? Because the game I played had a fantastic cast of characters and I was more close to Shepard then I was to my Warden.

Looks like we're going to go through the same fiasco as ME2.

A game that is smashing critical and financial triumph?  If I was Bioware that would be the sort of fiasco I would want to repeat as often as possible.

I loved ME2, I would rather not every game be like ME2, but I understand that is how this business works.

If we are going to make a ME2 in Thedas make it a really good ME2 in Thedas Bioware that is all I ask.

I think he meant people overreacting to every single little tiny detail and proclaiming with big words and long paragraphs that "the series is ruined forever!" It happens every single time with every game and it's just as annoying each time it happens. David Gaider wrote a good post about this:

How do you know there will be a DAO3 or that it's even a trilogy? Bioware never said anything and seeing the direction DAO is going now, I am very disapointed.

Dragon Age isn't a trilogy.
