- No race choices? we were given this in DA 1, and its being taken away in number 2? WTF IS THIS BS?! Humans are my least favorite race. We f--k everything up, are the biggest ****s in the room in almost any game, and we're always so bland. I'm a human, so I personally don't want to play as one all the bloody time. I did play ME 1, but there we were locked into humans from the get go in game 1. What's pissing me off and probably many others is that the choices are being taken away as we get further along.
- it does sound like DA 2 is going the bland, appeals to "everyone" route. Huzzah for Captain Bland's Monotonous Adventure! <_<
- ME and DA are different RPG's, don't hybridize in DA 2 and make it bland across the board, Bioware.

Hawke HAS to be female if player chooses so. Michelle Pfeiffer was Lady Hawke, after all.
About Morrigan son... who knows, but that woman with white hair on the cover looks an aged Morrigan, much like Flemeth.
Or... BioWare is just introducing new characters like in ME2, letting us forget about those from DAO, just to melt them all together for the third, possibly final, chapter.
How do you know there will be a DAO3 or that it's even a trilogy? Bioware never said anything and seeing the direction DAO is going now, I am very disapointed.
It's just a guess, BioWare is chasing a cinematic approach with recent games and a good cinematic saga is formed by at least a trilogy, right?

Did we play the right game? Because the game I played had a fantastic cast of characters and I was more close to Shepard then I was to my Warden.
Really the ME2 characters were better than the Origins characters? They were for the most part one-dimensional characters defined totally by a single character attribute. The were no Morrigan's among the whole group, nobody had any complexity to believeabilty to them at all. The ME2 characters are bland compared to the ME1 characters in fact the only good ones are ME1 characters. Attachment to Shepard is subjective since Shepard has to be a mary sue, whereas The Warden is merely a vehicle for the player to experience the world and any personality to inflected by the player on to this blank slate.

Hawke isn't Morrigan's child. They are a survivor of the Blight.jlb524 wrote...

I would LOL if he's Morrigan's child after all. "blight survivor", story takes place "over a decade." so he obviously starts young - and the utterly bizarre styling of his weapon, armor, and left handed prince of persia-esque claw.
I just wonder who the father would be...the male Warden or Alistair. The claw is what is giving me that idea...it hints at some 'evil' heritage.
I would want the father to be Alistair...I wanna be the heir!!

If I may be so bold, I hope that you will let the voice actor put more emotion into their performance than in Mass Effect 2, where the protagonist was unfortunately reduced to "angry/indifferent blockhead" most of the time.
It's risky, but if you really want to live up to your worlds, then you need to have a more reactive PC than was the case before. And you need to allow them to deal with issues that reflect on themselves once in awhile, instead of having the protagonist be the Universal Problem Solver For Everyone Around Them.

"BioWare has confirmed that Dragon Age 2, the sequel to the 2009 RPG of the Year, is in development. Dragon Age 2 progresses the epic saga, as you take on the role of Hawke, a survivor of the Blight and the hero who will change the world forever. Visit the Official Dragon Age 2 website here:Dragon Age 2"
So it will be taking on the role of Hawke much like Shepard in ME 1/2.

Could be a second Blight between DA 1 and DA 2 or it could simply be someone that we never met in DA 1 (and is therefore not the child of Morrigan at all).

Perhaps the soul of an Old God. You'd essentially be playing the Archdemon that survived the end of the blight.UndercoverDoctor wrote...

Oghern- crap character
Zev- pure annoying
Leli- amazing and well done character
Sten- Great character
Shale- Good character
Alistair- clitche goodie toe shoe.
Morrigan- evil as in kill kittens
Loghain- fantastic
Ya the DAO characters where soooooo good. The only good characters where Leli, Sten, Shale and Loghain compared to Legion, Mordin, Miri, Liara, Wrex, Thane, Samara and Garrus.
