Me too.  You know they will establish a canon with the whole Morrigan thing.

They are going to Canonize Morrigan?

Sorry.

Anyway I hope they do not make any particular outcome of DA:O Canon.

I really don't like the idea of following in Mass Effect's footsteps and going to a "third person" point of view rather than DA's "first person".  (Which it does seem to be what they're doing)

I just hope it's handled similar to the Cousland name in Origins instead, where people will remark upon who you are but I really don't care for a fully voiced PC.  I want my Dragon age and Mass Effect mechanics as separate as possible.

If the dialogue options are shown in a circle with no keyboard shortcut I'll kill myself!

Haha, it wouldn't surprise me tbh. It's quite clear that Bioware is taking the cinematic approach for this title as well. I'm more interested to see how they are gonna handle combat though. If it also feels 'MassEffectish' then I'll be disappointed.

Once upon a time there was that small game called... Planescape Torment, it had predetermined charecter too... and we all know how that went = best hardcore RPG game of all time

I personaly welcome the idea of partialy predetrmined character in Dragon Age II

Actually that was the game that convinced me character customization was pretty over-rated as an RPG device.  A great RPG could still have a predetermined character.

I am not amused <_<

I on the otherhand am amused Image IPB

Still i'm definetly like'n the design, very Guts from Berserk (king of dark fantasy series~!) i wonder if they'll still be race/sex options but everyone is this Hawke person, slap a male & female voice setting and i gather they'll be doing the Mass Effect thing with this? (awakening & leliana's song already seemed to imply this was the direction they're going in)

Either or i'm definetly like'n this

Oghern- crap character
Zev- pure annoying
Leli- amazing and well done character
Sten- Great character
Shale- Good character
Alistair- clitche goodie toe shoe.
Morrigan- evil as in kill kittens
Loghain- fantastic

Ya the DAO characters where soooooo good. The only good characters where Leli, Sten, Shale and Loghain compared to Legion, Mordin, Miri, Liara, Wrex, Thane, Samara and Garrus.

So you prefer characters with 1/8th the dialogue none of the character development and shallow as a puddle in terms of player interaction. The fact that you define Morrigan as kills kittens evil show your ingnorance right there. But I'm in the middle of some calibrations right now.

Set race is a big step back.

I like being an Elf.

So who filled in the BIOware survey and decided that it all must change for DA2 then.

Come on own up, show yourself!!

Will watch with interest but its not a good start from what I want to play. No carry on of my DA:O character(s), my reckoning s/he has 15 years left at the start and about 5 left if the timeline is over a decade, loads of time for them to change due to the taint.

Didn't think about that did you Bioware.

Oh pleese. If you think those characters had no dev then you are blind and I sugest you just go back to playing DAO.

Seems all the "we want our PC voiced" people won. So congratulations I suppose.

No, as an RPG Planescape is one of the most overrated and poorly designed games of all time. It's story is arguably one of the best to ever grace video games but mechanically it was terrible.

That would actually be really cool, still hoping we get some DLC in the future for DAO that lets us play as Duncan.

Why do games like this always make you "save the world", what the hell is wrong with "save my own ass" or "help the small local village/organization"?

The whole making you be human/Hawke is probably to support that whole cinematic thing they're going on about.

That said, I hope it stays more like Dragon Age, and less like Mass Effect. Mass Effect is a great game, but DA:O brought back the classic Bioware RPG.

Yes, But I don't think that having a pre-determined character impacts the gameplay though.

Hawke HAS to be female if player chooses so. Michelle Pfeiffer was Lady Hawke, after all.

About Morrigan son... who knows, but that woman with white hair on the cover looks an aged Morrigan, much like Flemeth.

Or... BioWare is just introducing new characters like in ME2, letting us forget about those from DAO, just to melt them all together for the third, possibly final, chapter.

Dragon Age isn't a trilogy.

Is there an official announcement about that?

This has been known before Dragon Age: Origins was released. BioWare has said on multiple ocasions that Dragon Age isn't a planned Trilogy. I'm sure I could find a source but I'm very lazy and I'm currently playing replaying Origins.

I love Mass Effect and Dragon Age but I have to agree that Dragon Age
has more indepth characters. I think Alistar is my favorite character in
any game made by BioWare so far.

I'm just a little sad. It would have been interesting to see BioWare cut out all the character customizations and just let the writers write. All their games have variable protagonists. I'd like to see them stretch their legs with a pre-determined protagonist at some point. Shepard does come very close, but doesn't really get there.

This is one thing I hope they never do.  Being able to customize a character is one of the major rpg factors for me.  That and the story.

Jade Empire is the closest thing to a predetermined character I ever want them to go for.  You still have choices between being male and female and you still had choices between fighting style, just no choice in looks.

Well, hopefully we won't be referred to as "Warden" all the time now...

It feels so out of place for them to always have to twist their words to say "you" or "Warden".

I suspect the last name will be Hawke like with DA:O and ME's preset last names. Hopefully that is so that our character can talk this time.
