This has been known before Dragon Age: Origins was released. BioWare has said on multiple ocasions that Dragon Age isn't a planned Trilogy. I'm sure I could find a source but I'm very lazy and I'm currently playing replaying Origins.Sylmawen wrote...

Hawke HAS to be female if player chooses so. Michelle Pfeiffer was Lady Hawke, after all.
About Morrigan son... who knows, but that woman with white hair on the cover looks an aged Morrigan, much like Flemeth.
Or... BioWare is just introducing new characters like in ME2, letting us forget about those from DAO, just to melt them all together for the third, possibly final, chapter.
Is there an official announcement about that?
Ok, too bad then. I guess the loads of incoming purchasable DLC is what we would have called DA3, once.
Damn EA.

Seems all the "we want our PC voiced" people won. So congratulations I suppose.best hardcore RPG game of all time
No, as an RPG Planescape is one of the most overrated and poorly designed games of all time. It's story is arguably one of the best to ever grace video games but mechanically it was terrible.
Yes, But I don't think that having a pre-determined character impacts the gameplay though.
No, but voice acting does. Two actors (Male and female) voicing the PC's character means a lot of cash already down the drain. So something is going to get slashed, and my guess is gameplay will be one of the bigger losers.

Male/Female Human referred to my last name? Sounds like a Shepard situation to me, which IMO is fantastic, Mass Effect really nailed having a customisable/role-role play character while still having an engaging cinematic story.
Are we talking about the same game? Cause all I see is a console game where choice sorta matters a bit and the dialogue system was gutted in the sequel to create a group of largely lifeless and artificial characters.
Did we play the right game? Because the game I played had a fantastic cast of characters and I was more close to Shepard then I was to my Warden.
So was I. I've put DA up and I'm not sure when I'll play it again, but I'm still playing ME1 and 2.
I liked a lot of things in DA character comments between the party members, but I enjoyed all of the story of ME and ME2 and the characters, even Jack not one of my favorites, more than I did the ending of DA which pretty much soured the enjoyment for me.

So by looks of it, if this is true, going to be forced to play a male char? not good.
I bet not I have a feeling it will be like Mass Effect 1 and 2 get to play either as a Male Or Female.

It's ME2itis, cut out as many options as you can, we'll probably have a chat wheel with 3 options as well.GreenSoda wrote...
It is. Well her/his race at least. Human by design. Chris just confirmed it.Vincentdante wrote...

You had a voice in Dragon Age. It was just seldom used... mostly limited to ladders and getting off backs.Galagraphia wrote...
I hope this Hawke will be mute. One of the reasons why I can't play Mass Effect anymore is that I have a game where nobody's trying to voice my character and I'm giving him/her a voice in my imagination, it gives me more freedom in roleplay. Voiced over PCs will kill Dragon Age for me.

I don't mind PC having a few lines in battle and stuff, I just want him/her to be silent when Mama's roleplaying!pitchblaq wrote...

There was an iconic hero for the first game as well, used in all the cinematic trailers and plenty of the gameplay trailers. The boxart is a step-up in face time, but it's not finalized; if that's stripped from him, we're exactly where we were a year ago.Wamboland wrote...
I think its the try to mainstream it for the US market. Thats why we will see a new look (more colours) and have only one iconic hero.

Ok I respect peoples opinions but give Bioware a break already and allow them time to complete and release the game before making any judgement towards the none existent DA2 - heavens above!

It is a story. And with limited options to choose from that could only make it better. I'm pround they did this.

So, that means Morrigan created a last name for her child? However,
if this said hero is a survivor of the blight.. Being her baby does not
make sense. Unless you get down to splitting hairs.. Yes, This
person survived the blight as an embryo? "Blinks"

Seems it'll be about Hawke's rise to power....what if he becomes the villain of DA3....think about it , we watch him rise to power and becomes evil. Then a new hero (or origins hero but they would probably be dead by then) rises up to stop him. Just tossing that out there, do what you want with it.
Kinda like the Legacy of Kain or something?
