I would like confirmation that Bioware won't be implementing this in DA2

I've posted it on PS3 support forums as a separate thread and in several other threads - no reaction.
Locking saves and limiting character number on PS3 is absolutely unnecessary and stupid decision, unless you want to harm your customer's experience of course.

But seriously, get this game on the PC. That's where it's all at.

Most people choose PS3 version over 360 (PS3 version looks better - not as good as PC, but better than 360) hence more complaining. 360 version essentially have same problems and even more (see 360 support forum). Also, people are used to flawless PS3 exclusive games, and when you see a game that looks like **** compared to Uncharted 2 or GoW3 or even Demon's Souls but requires a large install and runs worse than any of these games, surly you would complain.Druss99 wrote...
I keep seeing threads about problems with the PS3 version, I know the xbox version isnt perfect but is the ps3 one that much worse? From what I've seen on here it looks like an absolute nightmare. I'm not trolling I'm genuinely curious.
Mind you I've played 300 hours on PS3 without any freezes or bugs or something like that. As far as I know on PC situation is not that good.
Normally, PS3 lets you copy any content to a flash drive or an external HDD, so you can have millions of saves if you want. The problem with locked saves is that they're bound to console's hardware and can not be copied at all. They can only be copied as a part of full system back-up, but can be restored only on this very console. If it was repaired, for example, saves will be gone. Thank you Bioware, or Edge of Reality...

So. You have it on PC and how many hundreds of hours you've played without crashes, freezes and without any technical problems that distracted you? I can't stand such things. If game crashes every 5 hours it's unacceptable for me.XX55XX wrote...
RDR doesn't lock saves on my PS3. I fully agree that BioWare (or EA) should remove such a restriction.

Thanks for the explanation, I had a choice between 360 and PS3 version. Went for 360 as I didnt think I would keep the PS3 much longer because I didnt like it. I never had a single issue with DA:O on 360 so figured the problems were all with the PS3 version because I've seen a few threads about it lately.Lord Gremlin wrote...

Quest bugs and other such bugs are same on 360 and PS3 - no Shale on coronation in the end etc. Some threads actually share content on 360 and PS3 support forums.

Several hundreds... At least 3 by my estimates and maybe as much on the toolset. I think I've had like 3 crashes in-game all that time. The toolset is a little more unstable but kind-of warns you when it's going to crash.
That being said, locking saves is bs, regardless of platform. No excuses.

3 crashes in-game is unacceptable to me. What, a crash every 100 hours? Now I've played more than 400 hours already and during that time had 1 crash on PS3 and that's what my rage on PS3 support forums was about. Acceptable number of crashes/freezes in game on PS3 = 0. Exactly zero. 1 is unacceptable already, 2 - game not worth the money, 3 - game is unplayable. I'm quite serious here._Loc_N_lol_ wrote...

Sadly, noone can guarantee that game will never crash on my PC. I've downloaded the character editor on Steam, BTW, but never went for the full game. I want guaranteed stability.
And locking saves is indeed bs. They don't lock em on PC, why lock em on consoles? Please Bioware don't make the same mistake with DA2.

I lost 92 save games across 4 characters and 4 playthroughs to a crash some months ago, from DA:O alone. More than 200 saves all in all, across all games, due to save game locks. The idiocy of locking the save games to prevent people from copying them is astounding, since a save game might only increase your ability to get a trophy by a fraction. Instead, 100% of all customers on the PS3, of games with locks on them, have an expire date on their locked save games, since they cannot be restored from a backup to another device - and hardware does, despite whatever anybody tells you, NOT last forever. Especially not present generation consoles (and probably even worse for future generations) due to the heavy workload they're doing. Electronics have a limited time span - but with backups you should at least be capable of saving your time and restore your progress.
I will not buy another game with save game lock, no matter if the game claims the title as the second coming of the Messiah in game form. I simply won't be bs'ed like that again. Their games are just not good enough to warrant this kind of headache.

The locks are one problem. Another is save limits. Why oh why could we only have 10 characters on the consoles? And why did those slots include things like Leliana's Song, Golems, and Witch Hunt? This makes it impossible to carry as many characters as we'd like into the next game. I also ended up deleting characters I now wish I hadn't, and it'll take 80 or so hours to get them back.

This isnt a bug or glitch, EA copywrites there game saves so you cant transfer them via USB or other media storage. You cant move it, and im pretty sure its for xbox as well, when i checked for ME.
PS3 is exactly the same as Xbox, except for:
PS3: better textures
Xbox: better framerate
