I'm actually pretty glad that we'll be playing as a new hero in DA2, despite my initial disappointment. With DAO and the Awakening, playing as the Warden once again would risk the game getting a bit stale. However, I really am curious as to whether or not we'll ever get to play as our original hero and even see the return of some of our companions in future releases. I can say, that I would rather be disappointed if this were the last that we ever saw of our Warden and characters such as Leliana, Alistair, etc.
Will we ever see our Warden again?

Doesn't sound like it.
At the end of the day, I guess our choices really didn't matter.

I think it more likely that we see what happened to the characters from DA:O in DA2's codex. It'll all be suitably distorted by propaganda or historical inaccuracy as well, I bet.

If you keep your save game, I daresay we might see a cameo or two, G-man style from Half-Life. Of course, you wouldn't be able to interact in any way with your Warden whatsoever. If your Warden does give you orders, most likely it would be done through intermediaries.
I wonder if we will see characters from Awakening.

There is a great disapointment: There's no real conclusion to the Warden story after all...

Your Warden can have a number of different endings. Maybe those impact the start of this game. Or maybe they will have nothing to do with it. Either way, it's hard to continue a story with a character that may or may not be king, dead, or wandering off with his lover.

I'm perfectly fine if our hero & all compansions from DAO & the Awakening are excluded from DA2 - but we all know that this franchise will continue to expand in the future. I think it's perhaps too soon to continue building on them. But, here's to hoping that some future releases/expansions/DLC will feature some of the familiar faces.

Let the poor Warden die in peace
As much as it was interesting to play that character, it's time for something different.

There is still going to be more DAO DLC; the Warden's story might still end.

He's under the boulder with the Neverwinter PCs.

I think the settings of the game (kinda like origin story) should be selected at start of a new game.. eg if you were evil to the bone, or a do-good:er, or something in between.. choices in previous game should have an impact.

A royal disappointment. If that's true, I simply won't buy this game at launch. Maybe later on, cheap, on sale...

Your Warden can have a number of different endings
Well, DAO starts off with a number of different Origins. DAO can end with you dying, becoming king, Alistair becoming king, or Anora becoming queen. I can't imagine that it would be overly difficult to work these in (eventually in a future release) as different openers similar to how the Origins are in DA.

The disappointment is there. I would have loved to continue the warden's story. But then, what is here is here. So yeah. Not so enthusiastic with the game just yet though.

My Wardens' stories ended fine, thanks. My mage sired a child with Morrigan to spare his and Alistair's life, then left King Alistair's court to pursue his love with the help of the magic ring she gifted him. The rest I'm quite happy leaving to the imagination.
My female noble became queen of Ferelden and vowed to rule fairly with her husband Alistair. Again, nothing further needs to be said.
My satisfaction with the endings of DA:O is why I didn't bother buying the explansion pack.

I would definitely like to see a little bit of info about what happened to the characters from the first game.

honestly if it wasn't for the awakening morrigan mix up. i would have been perfectly ok with my warden riding off into the sunset to look for the lover he will never see again. but im still kind of hoping for some new dlc. also for some more anders.

I can understand why the decisions you made are going to be lost to history (easier to account for one storyline instead of multiple ones). I wouldn't mind having your Origins Warden making a cameo, but if enough time passed, wouldn't there be questions in terms of appearance?

Good riddance, I say. Although I'll miss my companions, I am quite ready for an all new adventure.

I played thru DA1 5 times to get exactly the ending I wanted. I foolishly tough that my save would be imported into DA2.
One of my favorite aspects of DA1 was the love story between the Warden and the companions. I wish I could continue the romance in a sequel.
I have been gaming since 1979. DA is my favorite game of all time. So I will buy DA2.

I like the idea that my Warden just kind of faded into the background, personally. Went to settle down somewhere with Leliana.
But that's just me.

One of the things they've said behind closed doors about ME 3 was that ME 2 had so many choices, it is going to take a long time for them to compile all those into ME 3.
EA bought bioware to make money, and as others have stated they had a limited window to release DA 2, they did not get 3-5 years again. Considering the massive amount of choices in DA and Dragon Age Awakening, the way it had to differeniate between ending DA characters, ending DAA characters, etc. Even the orlesian warden in DAA. It would alot to account into a single game.
While I'd like to see it I think we will get a Kotor 2 style of history. Where npcs refer back to previous events in a rumouresque type way.

We'll see our Warden again and it'll be some ESB-like moment, where the Warden reveals he's Hawke's father.
