Hey Bioware!! Why are you ruining Dragon Age!?

What's it like to have such ungrateful fans? Must be a real bummer sometimes. I know game developers like to say that negative comments on forums don't effect them, but come on, you're human beings; it has to bother you at least a little.
I just wanted to let you guys know that there's at least one person on these forums who appreciates what you do. I'm super excited for Dragon Age 2. And Mass Effect 3. And The Old Republic. And whatever else you've got coming down the pipeline. I'm sure this topic will be locked soon after it's posted, but hopefully at least one you developers will see it. Keep up all the great work.[smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]

Fans have every right to disagree with a decision a developer makes. To call them ungrateful because of that is just plain silly.

As for DA2, I'm going to wait before drawing any conclusions one way or the other, but Bioware has yet to make a game I don't like.
Granted, I didn't play their Sonic game, but..

If you think this is bad you should see the Deus Ex 3 boards.

But the FANRAGING is going to be big and bad. Wait till the game's released - it will become a commercial and critical success far surpassing Dragon Age 1, and DA1 fans will be here, constantly, hardcore raging at the design changes.
You know, just like Mass Effect 1 fans do on the Mass Effect 2 forums right now.

I agree absolutely, everyone should express their opinion, I really like Bioware games but I am angry and disappointed at Bioware's planned changes.

I think you are missing the point.
Constructively disagreeing with something and offering an alternative is perfectly ok.
And by constructive I don't mean ranting endlessly about something that you don't like. I mean stating what you don't like, why you don't like it, and what could be done about it.
However, I think its fair to say you would be ungrateful to say things like:
"You changed it, so it sucks."
"I don't like how that sword looks. This game is stupid."
Without giving a reason that makes any logical sense.
There are also the people who for some reason they are entitiled to have the game designed around them and anything they disagree with completely ruins the game. I would also throw them in the ungrateful camp.

I would agree that freaking out and saying that a game sucks because a feature is in or out is silly. But again, ungrateful is just as silly. If Bioware was Santa Claus and giving out their games for free, then you could call those people ungrateful.
But you can't call someone ungrateful if they dislike something they would have to pay money to buy. If you are thinking about buying the game or have bought the game and a feature pisses you off enough to decry the whole game as a travesty that is your perogative.
To call that person ungrateful is akin to calling someone ungrateful when they rant about the hamburger they bought that isn't cooked the exact way they want. Rude, perhaps, but not ungrateful. Also, we are again talking about a consumer product, in any consumer product there are going to be people who think they are the majority and/or should be. Again, there are many words for those type of people, but ungrateful is not one of them.

In other words, some people are unsatisfied until they have everything they want, even though it is simply not possible.Ecael wrote...
No, but I expect more dumbed down posters talking about how they were "true fans" of [insert last RPG here].Silensfurtim wrote...
okay. ME2 was kinda "dumbed down".
BW, do we expect a dumbed down DA2? I'm scared that this will be a BG:DA lol.
The RPG everyone is nostalgic about hasn't existed ever since they introduced full voice acting, realistic graphics and lip-sync, cinematic cutscenes, and polished characters/companions (in both personality and looks).
Because people expect those things out of any good game these days - unless you're Nintendo - the writers will always be limited to how much all those listed above will cost (and how much time it will take).

You're dead wrong sir. You don't get a say in Bioware makes their games.

I never said I did. That was never my argument. Perhaps the hamburger analogy was the wrong one to use, but my argument is that you cannot call someone ungrateful when they are complaining about a product they have bought/will buy/may buy, etc. They have every right to complain about something they don't like. My argument was never that Bioware needs to listen to them.

No, we don't. But, as consumers, it's a "responsibility" of ours to give feedback on products EA BioWare supply to us, and they have every right to ignore that feedback. It's a balance - they have to make their own choices at the end of the day, but they're providing a service and by listening to feedback they can improve that service and perhaps even increase sales by doing so.AntiChri5 wrote...

I wonder how long it'll be until DA2 is referred to as "Mass Effect with Swords"?
