Just because Hawke isn't Morrigan's child in no way indicates that he's normal or that he doesn't have an origin that is vital to the plot.

Yeah I guess we shall have to wait and see.

Who said he was a blight survivor?

We did. :)

Which means that Morrigan is not his mother and Hawke is not the god child in DA2.

Darn it, is thought that idea was awesome. Will Morrigan and/or God appear in DA2 than

Am I the only one upset by the possibility that the dark ritual will be cannon?

One person dying, doing their duty, always seemed better to me that giving an apathetic apostate mage an old god born from your seed.

EDIT - Well I didn't read the BioWare poster.. i'm just going to leave quietly.

It seemed like the true outcome to me,if you were put in that position for real and someone gave you the choice of saving the world and keeping your life wouldn't you?Even more so if that person was someone you cared about,Morrigan might be evil and her motives for that child might be sinister it's easy to think that about her but, than again maybe not it only time will tell I've got some faith left in Morrigan.

A pity. The idea of playing as Morrigan's god baby was kind of neat. Not because you'd be a god baby, but because your very existence is a consequence of the first game, making it a proper sequel, rather than a different story set in the same world.

Since he's not, however, I'll have to join the 'then who the hell IS Hawke and why would I care about him/her?' crowd.

I'm still interested in this game and more than likely will end up buying it on launch, but I, at least, am disappointed by this revelation.

I have now lost interest in DA2 Image IPB

I don't mind having to be stuck as a human if it was for a special reason like the child, but not if its just to run around as some random human with a odd surname....

sure in a game like Planescape Torment I understand why you have a fixed character,

Interesting that you chose a game about a nameless hero who has lived 1000 different lives as your example for needing a fixed character.

The decision to make the main character human obviously wasn't a random choice.  It must have had something to do with the story.  We won't know what that is until we play through the game but how about a little faith that it was deliberate and will make sense.

Ok, so Hawke isn't Morrigan's son.

Guess that still leaves a question is the woman with dragon horns, claws and white hair is actually Morrigan?

Judging by her facial features and looks it seem likely that she is.

no i don't think it's Morrigan, it is probably some new character,
i am expecting something similar to ME2
i think there will only be a few cameos and only as quest givers like they did with Liara
hope i will be wrong but it shure seems like it ,since they abandoned the origins already

Are you?? All I'm saying is that its annoying that we can't choose who we want to be, yes that worked for ME because its Shepards story, but what I liked about DA:O is that you make the character and the story, it was more of an traditional RPG.

I suppose we're just going to have to wait for more information, but it just seams like everything we did in DA:O is for nothing at this point, just an interesting footnote.

Well judging by the draconian features I am going to guess Morrigans daughter, however I have already been proven wrong once today so I guess I shall just shut up now.

I can see where he is coming from; I know for me the whole 'being Morrigan's God baby' was what made me over look the undermining the point of the first game by having a pre-determined character. Although I don't think you so give on DA2 just because of that, no matter what I am sure it will be a great game maybe not as great but a great game none the less.

Please please give us a dlc that can put a final closure of some sort to the story of our Warden from Origins.

While I cannot be more excited about DA2, but it just doesn't seem right to leave the Origin's Warden hanging like that.

Something to end his story...even if it's just a dlc about him/her going to their calling.

Well I haven't completely given up on DA2 yet, I'm still going to watch it (I will most likely end up getting it), and it will probably end up being a good game, its just I'm less interested in it as I was before.

Is being a "God-Baby" as appealing as it sounds? If your hero is a Demi-God what evil could possibly stand against him/her. Wouldn't that make your hero way too powerful? I think the Demon-Child should be a villain; and the hero should be an ordinary human, who has to overcome incredible adversaries and obstacles to rise up and become the most influential person in the Dragon Age universe—that last bit was from the official description of the plot.

it shure seems that something is missing
i agree there need to be some sort of closure
the way it seems now is that everything you've done in Origins was all for nothing
or it must somehow connect but how????

I'm not really surprised.

The origins were used to teach us more about the different races in Thedas.

They have established so much lore and history of the universe already. I think the fact that the story takes place only several years after the Fifth Blight guarantees that we will find about some of the consequences of Dragon Age: Origins.

Otherwise they could have used an entirely different age, I think there would have have been many possibility.

Im still confused as to why so many felt/thought it needed to be directly tied to DAO characters like the Warden and Morrigan. They've built a MASSIVE map that Ferelden was only a corner of. They've created a backdrop for all of these places and their struggles.

Yes, Hawke is going to be someone who escaped the "blight", but considering that DAA involved Dark Spawn that were still around after you killed the Archdemon... are we sure that was the end of the blight? Hawke could be a refugee just about anywhere in Thedas and he might not have ties to ANY of our old companions. There are Wardens in every Country...

Im looking forward to this game, but its truly open to being anything the writers come up with.

They might just do that release another expansion or some sort of DLC that ends your Wardens story,we do have 7 months to go.
