It's in DA2 that we find out the massive story twist that DA and its expansions and sequels are just the PnPRPG campaign that the crew of the normandy has on weekends.

The former only occurs with some Shepard backgrounds, and even then aren't even significant in Mass Effect.Guns wrote...

Fine imagination on your part though. You know what I mean. A Suvivor of the destruction of your home, Recruiting a team of elite soldiers, Rise up to power to confront an evil.
The latter two are basically every BioWare game ever.

I like that as fast as the game is revealed I've seen nothing but flame at Bioware.
We probably just have a undying love for pryomania and want to burn anything, especially those we love.

But, but.. you're describing pretty much every Bioware game.
As Gaider once said; it's their apple orchard.. or something.

That's like 93% of all RPGs friend, it could also be said that's an exact description of BG's plot.

I'm waiting to see how exactly the gameplay changed to decide whether to flame or not, but so far it sounds really sketchy.

I don't recall my home being destroyed in Mass Effect. Sure my ship did but I got a shiny new one. I also don't recall having Shepard rise up and become the new space king or anything.

Shepards home was basically his ship, and all his dialogue to Joker says he doesn't really like it and that it replaced the original normandy.
He did have to rise back up so to speak. After his death and rebirth he had to gather a team and kill the Collectors without the help of the council again.

You'd have to really stretch at this point to make these sort of comparisons. The main plot of the Dragon Age series deals with sleeping Old Gods who wake up every now and then to cause havoc, and I can see the similarity to the Reapers of Mass Effect, but that's not what you're pointing out.
Until we find out that Hawke has previously saved the galaxy, was killed, resurrected by a previous enemy, and now must recruit a team to take out some new form of darkspawn controlled by Old Gods, I will personally choose to believe that they're not planning to rip off the plot of ME2. I'd be pretty disappointed if they did...

1. I wasn't arguing that before, but thanks! I'll add that to my point
2. We don't know he didn't for sure yet

Anyone else see an immediate, almost identical, plot description as Mass Effect 2? And they're changing the combat? That sounds sketchy as hell.
Well, the Mass Effect 2 wasn't all that original in terms of gathering people to fight a big bad evil. Mass 2 wasn't the first thing that did it. So copying it is no great crime.
Now, if you have to earn your party members' loyalty by completing these side missions like these
You find the creator of the Blight and then encounter a past student...
You must take your assassin friend on a quest for vengeance against the guy that sold out his allies...
You help a party member find out the awful truth about what his father's been doing all these years...
You take a headstrong young mage to her old school and discover things are not as she remembered...
Well that would be fail. Amusingly fail--but still fail.
