Besides, it's not a problem that can't be fixed--in fact, the devs have actually discussed how they're making dialogue options clearer.

Not to sound like an ass, but you know whats a very effective way to make the dialogue options clear?

Just list out the exact dialogue with a silent PC like Origins!

Oh, I forgot that system is totally broken and being forced to actually read just totally breaks immersion, I'm sorry.

...Because there is no way several of the dialogue choices in DA:O can be misunderstood and what you thought was an insult comes out as a joke or the other way around?

Oh, "we" are?

My husband and I have talked about buying Witcher, but we haven't.  We discussed giving Mass Effect 2 a try in hopes we'd like it better than Mass Effect. We haven't.  We didn't buy the Feastday pack because it seemed like a money sink and will probably not buy Leliana's Song because we aren't impressed with what we've heard about it.

Not sure who "we" is.

Intent isn't always clear with just text.  Just look what happens sometimes when people are sarcastic on messageboards.

Oh, I forgot that system is totally broken and being forced to actually read just totally breaks immersion, I'm sorry.

Resorting to a strawman = coming off like an ass.

If your not going to buy it then why waste your time on the game's forums?

Leliana's Song is in my opinion the best DLC for Dragon Age so far (though to be fair, I didn't buy Darkspawn Chronicles...it didn't look like it was for me).  Unless you dislike Leliana, you'll probably have fun with it.  She's completely voice acted...but she's also not your character.

It sounds like DA2 will be a nifty story. They will port over our choices, such as who is in charge in Orzammar and who is on the throne. But anything with a story and some choices is not a ROLE PLAYING game. It sounds like they are doing what they did with Leliana's Song, which, while a perfectly good story, was not an RP experience. If something is fully voiced, I cannot imagine different characters saying a line in different ways, and meaning it differently. I am leading a character through a story, but that character is not my own.

I'm sure it will be a fun game. I can hope it will be far less buggy than DA:O and Awakenings. I may even buy it when the price drops. It seems as though BW has decided that it should be a company that makes adventure games with a story, not RPGs, or at least buying into the recent re-defining of what an RPG is--a game with a story and precious little role playing. None of the DLCs since RtO has had any real RP element. If I want to watch a cinematic story, I'll go to a movie.

Yes, there was certainly room for improvement in DA:O. Sadly, the game failed in areas they seem to be ignoring--the epic number of bugs and lack of unique armors etc, not in the role-playing aspects. Those were the things the game was consistently dinged on in reviews. The dev's bashing of their own game is troubling. An old analogy about a baby and bathwater comes to mind...

Are we now? I didn't buy MW2 because I didn't like what Activision was doing as a company, apparently that was the biggest game release of all time and I've never played it and never will. If BioWare doesn't start showing me some stuff I'm interested in I won't buy their game, simple as that. I don't get my money from mommy, and I don't have to give it to any company I think is making a subpar product.

I'm giving my opinion in hopes that the direction the series is going will still be changed.  I enjoyed DAO a lot and hate to see what's happening to the franchise.

The series, maybe.  DA2?  I wouldn't hold out hope that the fully voiced protagonist will go back to being silent, or that the dialogue wheel will be scrapped.  A recent developer post said that ship has sailed.

Quite. There's no date set in stone, and the direction of a game can always change.

This is, obviously, a futile struggle but it's one that's worth having.

Rolling over and giving up is never an acceptable response.

Plain and simple no.

Sometime i misunderstood dialogue choice in Dragon Age just like in ME, without an indication on the tone which the sentence  will be pronunced it could happen.

Apparently you didn't read the response to those "true words".

Anything in the game can still be changed.

Why do you think people protest in the street? You make your voice heard and you can change what is wrong, whether it's in a game or in Congress.

Sitting quietly and just letting the world roll over you solves nothing. Being meek doesn't change anything.

If you don't like the direction one of your favorite game series is going, what better way to stop it then by voicing your opinion?

Jesus ****ing christ people, I haven't seen this concentrated amount of whining for a game that was just announced a few days ago. Give it a break already, Why don't you wait for actuall release of a gameplay trailer before whining?

They even say that BioWare's attempt for DA2 is to give the game more a 'contemporary' style

So?

Next time don't cut my quotes and maybe you won't have to ask me 'So?' ;)

Anyway, what I'm saying is that I simply don't like that this article makes DA:O sound like a datad effort motivated only by nostalgia. That's all.

By then it will be too late. Only would change if response after realease were bad enough that they would fear DA3 would lose sales (DA2 is going to be a success, no doubt that).
I just don´t understand why this obsession with making things simpler, but almost always it points towards console users. And who makes the decisions? If this is like movies, or book/comic franquises, it is probably someone from EA who should stay home and quiet.

Dialog wheel and voice over doesn't make things simpler.

More concerned about combat changes (spartan? what does that mean?), and the removal of the origins (are voice overs worth it?), but I´m in wait and see mode.

The dialog wheel or seeing only the gist of what you´re going to say seems to be becoming increasingly popular, and it´s easy to see why. As a start long phrases without a walltext on screen. Witcher 2 will take at least the timed responses from AP at least in critical situations, so this seems to be the new path to follow.

It's for the PS3 & Xbox. Combat for the PC is pretty much the same.

This is great! I've bought all the games Bioware's released* but with the way that Mass Effect and Dragon Age are going they're going to save me so much money in the future! Thank you for making decisions about my gaming budget easier to make.

* Well, everything except the Sonic the Hedgehog game.

For DA2, yes.  They have also said that there's nothing set in stone about future games, assuming that there are future games.  However, it does seem that what they were saying about the silent protagonist in DAO's promotion has now been thrown out the window, despite the success of the game.  Why ask why.
