I realize this.  I'm as cynical as the next girl, and I'll use my credit card accordingly when the time comes.  However, the forum is here and that's an invitation to respond about the game.  At least they won't be able to say "we thought this was what you all wanted."

As for "wait for more information," by all means let us all know when we have your permission to respond to the interviews and dev feedback on the forum.

Just a comment here that I agree with the above poster insofar as there's no need to shout down people who are being critical of the game (or at least what they've seen of it so far, as limited as that might be). While some people can indeed get a little heavy on the dramatics, you all are indeed invited to comment... and just because someone's tired of hearing the complaints is no need to refer to people as "whiners".

Polite feedback of all kinds is welcome, and I would hope we're all mature enough to remember that. :)

You, sir, are a true gentleman, and just sold me on buying this game regardless.
A game developer that's actually present on their forums, encouraging people to keep posting their complaints... that's VERY rare.
Sheer class!

How did sales figures come in this time? I personally don't trust any source considering there are so many contradictions out there.

...

That being said, who the fcuk cares? I enjoy the games for what it is. Not whether its an RPG, a shooter or an RTS.

I don't care that much, personally, but people tend to bring up sales figures during times like this to either argue against or justify changes to a franchise (or perceived changes, as it were...).

Gamestop told me they could only sell me a copy if I signed up for a subscription and that general sales will start in 2 weeks.

Since I was the whiner who was chosen to represent whiners everywhere, I'll say I appreciate the writers' feedback too.  Hopefully it is taken as a sign of the great interest the original game inspired.

And I'm pretty stoked that my right to b*tch and moan is now officially Maker-sanctioned.  Posted Image

Forgot to mention this, but I've noticed that people see sales figures as a form of self-validation as well.  "I prefer game X over game Y, and X sold better, so I'm right."

Oh, I agree.  Just giving my take on why people seem to care so much about them.

people cares because if the hardcore version of the game doesn't sell enough on its own, the sequel gets dumbed down to reach the casual player

Well, that says a lot about them.  What's really dumb is this whole annoying "hardcore" vs. "casual" debate.

if you enjoyed a movie about the life of Beethoven you wouldn't want to see the sequel being a movie of beethoven fighting ninjas with a big shotgun and saying "hasta la vista baby" only to appeal to mass market and sell more.

Imagine the director of the movie saying "hardcore cinema fans are very elitist, they are never satisfied and they are fery few, so we had to make the sequel open to all audiences".

You would say "let casual viewers watch avatar and let beethoven for us"

That sounds like...something that would never happen.

You would say "let casual viewers watch avatar and let beethoven for us"

I'm not all snooty like that.  Seems to me like you're projecting (it's what YOU would say).

Like many people I like to watch all different types of movies.  Besides, the example you gave is implausible to begin with, and therefore irrelevant.

People do. not. know. what. casual. actually. implies

stop throwing that word around

if DA2 looked like Bejeweled, then yes it is being "casualized"

Its not. Different =/= casualized

Simpler =/=casualized

it is not,  it's simply that you refuse to acknowledge it

Because it's a stupid argument.

it's a legitimate argument behind an exaggerated example.

Come on, let's not play cat and mice. Why does your 45.000$ sports car need a giant size cupholder? to appeal mass market. People who brings cars to the track on weekend feels betrayed because they don't need that feature, they are legitimately offended.

You want a cupholder, buy a Camry. Deal with the absence of it in a sports car or don't buy it.

"oh, but we have to appeal to mass market, their money is as worth as yours"

fine, but stop calling it a sports car and stop saying you care for racers.

Imho it's a fitting example of the general attitude of some, here.

Take Avatar. Clearly only a casual viewer could enjoy Avatar. The real elitist would never watch it, right? Since it was targeted at a very broad audience. Anyone with a real mind couldn't enjoy Avatar for what it is - Pocahontas in Space in gorgeous 3D, god forbid. He rather moans about what Avatar could have been.

if avatar was the sequel of a movie with a touching story, deep character development and unfinished business of its main character, yes only a casual viewer could enjoy that sequel

That's too bad.  I just stopped by Borders hoping they would have Gamer Informer, but I didn't see it in the video game magazine section.

what i'm a little worried about is the exploring aspect of the game. Will there be more quests and more places to explore? Those are the questions i'll be asking alot.

they made it sound like much of the traveling would be skiped because of the way the story is being told after the fact so yeah im worried about exploration as well.
