So, we're restricted to playing a human character only, fair enough; but will we still have a choice of origin stories for that character? Noble, commoner, Circle mage, apostate, and whatever else they could come up with; or are all character's going to have the same origin?
Ok, so Race Choice is Out; are Origin Stories?

Note that "Origins" is no longer in the title...

You start as a poor refugee, or something like that.

That doesn't mean you can't have some leeway.
If they take away the Origins aspect entirely, fine, I'm not going to weep too much about it, but it'd be cool if they let us choose maybe a country of origin?

That could just mean that all the origins end with Bad Things happening to your home, not necessarily that all characters start the same.Solostran85 wrote...

It'd be a real shame if we didn't get origin stories in DA2, they were one of the better parts of DAO. Besides, with the lore they've given us in the first game, it'd be a bit odd to have a mage start the game the same way as a warrior or rogue, disregarding the place mages are supposed to have in the setting.

Well when you think about Connor and his secret training it's not to much of a logic step to think that you will probably start out in the same town regardless or class and have different trainers, stories based on class.
since we are all human, there are no origin stories "per say", there may be class stories. I mean while I could see a rogue, warrior, and mage starting out differently even if they all end as penniless refugees.

It sounded, from some of the info they're releasing, like the game will be shaping the "origin" or life of this Hawke person. The game takes place over the course of 10 years.

I think the class effects it more, if you are a mage you are an apostate, rogue is a criminal etc

This thread is 3 months old, by know it's definitely known there'll be no origins, no races and that the game will be about ME's length
