Probably means nothing. When it comes to Bioware they are a cash cow. I doubt EA would cut Bioware at all in the development area. Reading the article, looks like EA canceled the development for lot of games in the pipeline, and I highly doubt any of those were EAs. Now the Mythic side of Bioware might see some cuts though.

This doesnt bother me too much. I played DAOC for five years and Mythic never ballanced that game out, then they came out with WH:O, a WOW knockoff with basically the same cartoon characters.

I really hope it doesnt hurt Bioware.

I hope it's not Bioware or the DLC support team getting the cuts here.

EA didn't put a gazillion dollars into a new franchise IP to chop it off just as the first release came out to universal acclaim.

Agreed.

It's not like EA didn't see this coming. Such things don't come as a surprise.

Do you really think EA would've put that much money into DA:O's marketing if they wanted to cut Bioware or Dragon Age off?

For real, on the History channel, about every other comercial break has a DAO spot in it.

I don't think BioWare can be hurt by problems at EA. BioWare is a separate company.

Too bad it's not the management facing the axe. Because imo, they contributed considerably to this problem, and it's the lower rung employees who's facing the chop.

I actually sorta disagree with this. If you looked at the games being released from EA in the past year or so, there have been some absolutely fantastic new IP's that they have released that completely underperformed. Brutal Legend and Mirror's Edge being two of them that were fantastic in concept, but have not done well enough in sales. But look at other games that EA has published, and you'll see that when comparing to other publishers, EA has actually tried to become...different than before. That is, like when they killed Origin. :P

I think EA has been replaced by Activision Blizzard as the gaming industry's slimiest corporate goonsquad. EA has made some inroads to boosting the quality of their games just in the last 3 years. I think Layoffs/downsizing is always necessary when the economy's in the pooper, but I feed bad for the poor guys who lost their job. Here's hoping that EA can turn it around and that Activision Blizzard can eat **** for the next 10 years.

Whats going on with them? Although I totally hate WOW, I'm anxiously awaiting the release of Diablo 3.

The Gaming Industry has gotten big and complicated mixed in with Evil management.
After reading the Activision post it makes me sick to buy an Activision game.

It seems The Gaming industry needs to be shaken up.
Big publishers are buying up studios and ruining at least some of them. Its horrible

You cant take the creativity and innovation out of a creative product.

EA is just the publisher of the game and if they don't want to continue investing into the Dragon Age series I'm sure Bioware can find someone who does.

Bioware is a division of EA and has been since EA bought Bioware. It can't just do whatever it wants.

Actually it can Bioware retains majority shares.

Wrong. "Video game maker Electronic Arts today announced it has
reached a financial agreement. with Elevation Partners to purchase VG Holding
Corp., the firm that owns Pandemic Studios and BioWare Corp. 10/11/2007 "

I actually was incorrect technically - Bioware is a subsidiary of EA. It ha slightly more room to maneuver than a divsion. EA controls it, however.

same here...Diablo series was always cool.....I'll be jumping at that as soon as it gets here.

I loved WoW too for a while.....just didnt "get into it" as much as others.....but Im glad I played for nearly a year...and got to see some cool gaming from it....wrath was a great expansion....pretty epic, best of the mmo's for that.

I dont have anything against Blizzard.....I've been thourogly entertained by a few of their titles.

all EA really is in essance is just a marketing firm they have made very few games on there own and many of those were companis that were going under or splitting up that had games in the weorks that they just finished mostly their games are just cookie cutter games put out every year

with a few new features e.g. sports games you will find very few other games that have just the EA name on them

I don't think the exchange rate was doing them much good, though...
