I'm not too fused with the lack of origin stories. For me it was like DA:O had two tutorial levels every time you played it - the origin and the wilds. But I am very disappointed with the lack of races. Sequels should add, not take away.

Sequels should refine and improve. More isn't always better and complexity isn't always "challenge" sometimes it is just complexity.

If they reduce the choices at the start because it makes it easier to create choices later on - in other words you can have more options because they do not have code for all the race variations on a theme then good for them.

Because you lose the ability to fully control your party members (and sometimes even your own pc) on console.  That's a drawback that pc players don't deal with.  You have to get really good at setting tactics because you cannot micromanage the characters as well. It's a different playstyle, but I don't play the game for combat mechanics.  I play for the story and the characters, and I am not the only console player who does this.

In the end that isn't dumbed down. Why is it "smart" to micromanage and "dumb" to have to build a good set of tactics - gosh advanced planning is bad!

The tactics in DAO, or BG or really most RPG's are nothing to write home about. There's nothing on the RPG front that even rises to level of Jagged Alliance. Most encounters are in a room so there's not much maneuver, there's little play difference in reality between 2 handed, shield or 2 weapon - it is mostly an aesthic choice because you have kncokdown attack, area of effect and attack and a really, really big damage on a single target attack, it is melee combat so issues of cover and concealment go away, you can only kill things so wounding has no effect and so on.

You have a point.  I've done both because I do have the game on PC, but it's just so difficult to play it on PC with the mouse click, key stroke system.  My hands really do get worn out.  And, after playing on console, which is much more immediate, I grow impatient with the pc version.  It is a much prettier game on PC, though.

My nephew got me into playing Elder Scrolls: Oblivion as a game that could keep me interested until DA:2 came out, and I must admit a certain fascination with Sneak>bow and arrow attack from concealment!  It's something you can do well in Oblivion that isn't as much fun in DA:O.  But it wasn't much fun at first, and I still have a devil of a time aiming as the enemy is rushing me.Image IPB

What sucks isn't what the game will be, but that everyone is too paranoid about the new game. We all want something but need to wait for more information. Bottomline, I am sure Bioware will make a great game even if it changes a lot

There's really no reason to have another thread for an existing topic.
