Given how many threads are flying up, there is an almost certain chance this will get buried quickly; none the less, I wanted to throw this up in light of all the "This Sucks," or "What the hell did you do to my beloved Dragon Age," threads. Folks are so busy either decrying the implied changes (despite very little being shown in detail yet) or loss of the Origin's Character Creator mechanic that those people who are genuinely "Excited" about the game are being drowned out. Not a surprise, as when games of this calibur release there is always more Hate than Love shown on the Forums until "After" the game releases. Hell, just head over to the Old Republic Forum. Scary stuff, despite the fact that everyone is Sure the game will be an Epic success.

Now, back to DA:2.

For those that are just plain Jazzed-Up over the announcement, please make your Voice Heard. Talk about what in the announcement you're excited about. And please, for those "not" Happy about the new implied direction of Dragon Age, there are other threads for people not Happy, so please post there. This Thread is for Fans who want to show 'Ol Chris Priestley and the other Devs and Writers some Love. And to wish 'em Luck. They have a Tight development Cycle, but given that this is BioWare and Not Obsidian I know they'll be up for the Challange. Alot of Sleepless Nights and Buckets of Coffee and Redbull ahead.

I'm really enjoying that the game will flow into a decade rather than a short timespan, this will allow relationships (and romances) with characters who will stay with you throughout to develop a lot more than the few months spent together in other games.

Romances could evolve a lot more than what was done in previous games because of it, as well.

I'm pretty excited about the basic premise of the story. As I said in a thread earlier, it reminds me of the Conan the Barbarian novels.

I don't mind the loss of the Origins because I'm assuming that Bioware have a good reason for it, namely that it allows them to tie in the main plot to Hawke's past to a much greater extent. The revelation that the plot will span a decade bodes well for this aspect.

I'm extremely interested to see the change in art style and the graphical overhaul. I'm generally a fan of stylised games, as they tend to have more longevity and they also tend to look better with less graphical processing required. That said, stylisation can go too far, but I'm very excited to see the art style that they're going to incorporate.

The only think I'm a bit worried about is the changes to the combat mechanics. I don't want the complexity reduced or the game geared too far to consoles. I like tactical combat and lots of skills to choose from.

I'm intrigued by this as well. In addition to affecting the way relationships develop, it could also give us a chance to see the long term consequences of our choices first hand instead of just reading about them in an epilogue.

The worst part of the crybabies and "omg mass effect with swords" crowd is they won't go away. They'll stay and hate on the game and eventually buy it anyway and espouse hate some more.

Regardless, I find the ideas fascinating indeed. Takes place over a decade, everything will be quite interesting, particularly romances.

thank christ someone who actually isn't actually worried that the romances will be bad i think the same as you mate it gives more chance for development and tough situations your character could even get married halfway through the game *wink*  *wink*Image IPB

I'm more excited for Mafia II. Nine more days. I don't get excited for games until they're about a month away.

I'm already excited for this game the story at least what they told us about it and the way it plays out sounds like it will be the most interesting part to me. I can't wait to play the game!

I saw the "Video" Teaser for DA II, and you know what?! I'm in love! I love the fighting sequences... It is like David Gaider and Laidlaw stated... "Fight like a Spartan" and it is beyond a la "Troy" (with Brad Pitt). I simply cannot wait for its release... though I would want Bioware to add the ability to interact with the environment, i.e., jumpling, climbing and swimming. Thus far, Bioware, I love what I'm seeing for the upcoming DA II Sequel.

The extended trailer, show a bit more, and from that, one can decipher that Hawke is a "mage" (a blood mage) toting a two-hander. Awesome! Now only if EA/Bioware would use a female archetype in their next trailer... what a treat that would be!
