I played ME1 on my old XP system. since then i built a new Win7 PC with a new HDD. I copied ME1 over to the new HDD but it does not seem to have bring down the sky in the masseffect/dlc folder. All i see in there is DLC_UNC. IN the game menu the download section is blank. I tried to download BDtS again, i enter my CD key, but when i run the exe. from the download it tells me ME1 is not installed and I need to reinstall it. The game runs fine so I would rather just copy the file over from my old HDD. Anyone know what folder bioware sticks it in? Thanks in advance.
need help to loacte bring down the sky on my old HDD

i dont know what folder its in, but i think it just updates existing files.
try right clicking the ME1 exe file and checking the run as administrator. then run the bdts install again.
if that doesn't work repeat what i said above and also run the installer as an administrator.

thanks for the reply homestyle
i ran ME1 as the admin. ran the install again, this time it asked for my CD key for BDtS. Went to the old bioware site got it, entered it, and the install keeps telling me "installation canceled" after every time i try it. what a pain in the ass.

ct1615, check out this thread. You can try skipping steps 3-10 to start with and see if the task-killing trick works by itself; but if it doesn't work, it's those registry-editing steps that you probably need to take.
Nice thinking on running ME1 as admin, homestyle. I always figured you had to re-install ME1 to get the registry entries back, but it seems like the game will actually regenerate them if you let it.

thanks kloreep, it get's me closer then before. it now tries to validate my license file but fails....the keys come straight from my bioware page. how can I have an invalid key that they gave me! I would be really pissed if this was not a free DL.
i'm seriously getting pissed with bioware and all these damn DL for all their games.

you only get 5 activations (or 3?) for the BDTS dlc. Yes, I know its free. lol
someone really messed this one up.
maybe all those times you tried installing, the crap program thought you were installing and you used up all your activations.

If you think it's the activations, EA Support should be able to tell you how many you have left (and give you more if they have been used up).
