Now to start off with, I'm excited about any BioWare game, and I will doubtlessly buy this simply because they've yet to fail me.

So to adress the sudden shock of the art style changing and the fact that we will no longer have origion stories, I have very little to say. It will be different, but if that's what they need to craft the most compelling story I'm not going to complain about it.

Also, while I would love to know more about Morrigan and her potential offspring, this is not going to be giving us that information more likely then not. At least not in the form of our protagonist.

if Hawke is a blight survivor how can it be
morrigans child?

Who said he was a blight survivor?

We
did. :)

Which means that Morrigan is not his mother and
Hawke is not the god child in DA2.

Which leaves the last and most pressing point. Despite any misgivings you have over the change, are you still exited about the announcement?

Personally, I'm on the fence. I've been waiting paiently for TOR since '08, so my hype is primarily reserved for that game. Combine that with the fact that I was already pretty convinced Dragon Age: Origin's was simply that, the origin of a fantasy franchise that BioWare could explore freely as their own intelectual property. The possiblities this gives is pretty staggering, given only one other BioWare game had an origional IP to date, Jade Empire.

With all this in mind, I can't wait to see more, and I only hope they employ the same type of multi-media advertising the The Old Republic has.

there's very little to be excited about as a dragon age fan. as a ps3-only guy, however, i am excited to finally get to play mass effect.

I'm very much looking forward to it, and the changes. Yeah it will be different, but it's a different game, and I don't see mixing things up as a bad thing at all.

Can't wait for the trailer.

Not really, I'm still annoyed by the fact that they gave us the illusion of free choice in the original game, only to decide what we did for us in the expansequel.

I might get it at some point, but certainly not day one.

Just as I have always said, the development teams and writers take the easy road, all the time, never to carry over a story that would have been or could have been lightyears better then is guy that rises to power, oh that new and rich.

I'm freaking glad that the Wardens have nothing to do with this. I'm surprised so many people seem to want more of the same in the sequel, when the blight is over, the Warden's story was over (provided you didn't get Awakenings, I'm told), and Thedas is wide open for different stories to be told.

New to the DA boards I take it? The vocal minority wants DA:Origins v 2.0- not an actual DA2.

That said, I'm with y'all. Bioware has yet to let me down.

It depends what you mean by "more of the same".  Generally speaking, a sequel draws interest because people enjoyed something from the first product.  The entire market appeal of a sequel is that it will provide more of whatever that something is.  For me it is the Thedas setting, the Bioware RPG style, and other stylistic qualities that made me enjoy the first game.  For others it is the Wardens, though personally, I don't see the need to do the Warden thing again.

mee too. Everything I fought for in DA:O ...all for nothing. That hurts. I wan't to see my warden again. I mean - he's a part of me, I went through a lot with him and now, he's crossed out like a secondary charakter. This can't be true. But truths hurts.

That was not what I've expected, Bioware :/

Sure DA:2 will become a great game, but without my warden and his storyline, it's not the game I've waited for

I'm not excited at all. Curious, perhaps. Mostly disappointed. As it stands now, I'm just going to sit tight and wait for The Witcher 2.

I am extremely excited and maybe this is the beginning of a truly epic series. Origins is one of my favorite games ever and I just have a feeling that this could be the start of something truly amazing.

I'm excited yes :)

I'd have been happy if the origins character continued but I'm happy with this too, I don't think that makes or breaks the game and biowares got a track record for thoroughly fun games in my book.

I like that we are playing a new character. Not sure why. Probably because I never felt attached to my wardens.

No. Every DA product since the original has been subpar. This is not a good trend.

(Wait, they announced MEPS3!?)

I am with Jestina on this one. If its anime, I will never ever be buying a Bioware product again. The spiritual successor of Baldur`s Gate being turned into a dumbed down pokemon game, is not something to be excited about.
