Same game engine?

Will this be using the same engine as Origins? The graphics of the first was the only real downside for me. I think it would be awesome if they were using CD Projekt's RED Engine (The Witcher 2). I'm not sure how much they can upgrade their current engine as I'm no expert but I would imagine there are limitations or else they would have improved them for DAO.

I don't know the answer. But Bioware spent a long time on DAO largely because they developed a new engine (though there were, of course, other factors). I rather doubt they would stop using it after one game. And personally, I hope I don't have to upgrade or get a new PC in order to play this.

So put me down on the side, of same engine.

Same engine with graphical upgrades, I'm guessing. Graphics upgrades can go far. The Witcher used the same engine as NWN1.

I hope not. I'm not trying to be rude but Bioware could do better.

They wouldn't be able to come out with a sequel so quickly unless the used the same engine.

I think if it had to be built on an entirely new engine, it would have taken a longer time to develop. It also wouldn't make economic sense to discard the old engine after using it for just one game.

If it was an already established engine they probably could. I wasn't implying that they were going to make a completely new one themselves.

they're mass effecting every other aspect of the game, why not the game engine?

That's kind of what I'm expecting as well, actually; they do mention "dynamic new combat mechanics that put you right in the heart of the battle".  This would probably allow them to get out the second game just as quickly as if they'd used the DA system, and I do seem to recall a comment by one of the devs about how DA2 would be similar to ME.

As to the DA engine itself, if they don't use it for this game they can still use it for DLCs for DA:O and future games in the same general venue.
