So, do we get to choose the gender and race of this protagonist, but they have the same name and back story?

Gender, yes. Race, no. The main character is a human.

That's disappointing. I was hoping to play a dwarf.

It is true.  This has all been confirmed.  Personally, I don't mind, but I can understand that people who prefer dwarves and elves would be disappoined.  But, you will probably get other characters of those races.

I can't help but recall the Hawk and Fisher novels when I read that ... I wonder if BIoware is paying a nod to that series - it wouldn't be the first time they'd done something like that in a game.

We can choose the gender of our character still but we can't choose the race. No dwarves or elves for you.

"But you can kill the Clerics and then they go away. You can't escape Necros."

I've been giggling non-stop for the past half hour, and that last reply actually causes me to change my underwear, I'm done.

Hopefully the boss fight won't be as disappointing.

There are obviously no legitimate ethical problem with doing anything with a dead body as long as others aren't aware of it.

The problem isn't that you did it, but that you did it on a public message board.

Necromancy is just wrong. Forcing hard working adventurers to kill their enemies more than once feels like cheating. Now, if you use those skills to make something like the Frankenstein monster (flesh golem), I've got no problem with that.
