Sorry, just curious, and hopefully I can get an answer as an early spoiler! :D

Will the world be open and non-linear, so I can feel like I'm immersed in the world? Or will it be point-to-point navigation again?

I was wondering this also, if it was going to be more free roaming or the same limited exploring.

I doubt it will be more open, but we won't know for sure until more info is released

Anyone who thinks Bio is suddenly going to change their minds about this is kidding himself.

At the most we could see a world map reminiscent of Storm of Zehir.

Suddenly seeing Bioware go open world or going back to something like Baldur's Gate 1 isn't likely.

I'm wondering given the whole structure of the narrative and the time jumps, how this might affect exploration. Will we be limited to one area to explore per narrative "chapter"?

Yeah, they seem to be getting more and more linear in their games. IT's not a bad thing but sometimes I yearn for the random exploring of the Baldur's Gate series. It was cool to wander aimlessly and stumble on a cave with a magic item with a story attached to it, never knowing if your characters would be ambushed by a rival adventuring party.

^i think they would love to do that, but it might be out of their budget.(designing, modeling and texturing everything)

no i don't think so. DA isn't a sandbox/freeroam game. Perhaps bigger maps or more interactive/interesting areas to explore.

i would love to see more set-pieces in the DA world. like large statues or something that makes the place more memorable, farmilar and distinct.

You mean BG1? I can't see any difference between DAO and BG2 except that the DAO maps are somewhat smaller and movement rates are slower.

I hope the general consensus is wrong, but probably not.

Being able to explore the lands uninhibited by invisible walls always made a world feel more alive to me. The games where you can roam freely always seem to pull me in to their world in a way I just don't with current point-and-click travel mechanisms.

Since there's less focus on creating arcs and stories for multiple races, I'd hope it wouldn't be left out because of budget or technical issues - Seems like if you skim off something from one area, you should have more resources available to do something else.

Ah well. Here's to hoping!
