I like how we know like almost nothing about the game but you guys go talking about romances

Haven't been on Bio forums for long, eh?

We will be talking about this topic every hour of every day up to during and after the game has been released.

So true. Just the nature of the forum. All romance, all the time. No wonder Bioware has romances in their games. It is popular with the fans.

Not being able to romance who you want can be a deal breaker for you?

For me - not at all.

But there be a thing; I hate when they (some bio devs) pull all that crap how the same-sex romance is marginal because not many players would like to play it *cue assumption* etc. : BULL****.
Thus, if heterosexuality is represented through romances and stuff, I'm for representation of homosexuality as well.

I probably wouldn't persue them myself, but many people would like them, so I hope same-sex romances will be in DA2. :-)

All I'm saying is that M/M fans may not want a repeat of what's already been done. The saucy assassin's been covered already.

Well that I get.  Nobody wants to exact same thing again.

But I was not responding to that.  Paromlin sounds geniunely disgusted and/or insulted by Zevran as if he was too girly or something.  A deep voiced latin accented assassin is hardly insulting an offer for M/M fans IMO.  That was the part I found sorta funny.

Same here, I could do without romances as well. What I'd prefer to see is all choices getting represented, though: as things are now, there is only one canon ending to Origins...

Um what if they have research and numbers to back that up and it is not an assumption?  Is it crap then?  Just hypothetically.

And I have not noticed this marginalization of same sex romance in the Dragon Age franchise.

Right. I barfed at the sight of Zevran and my keyboard was always dirty. :wizard:

No, you misinterpreted what I said. I did find him too girly (appearance, fixation with certain clothing etc./doesn't matter), but how you thought I was insulted by an rpg character is beyond me. Weirdo.

thank you! I'm glad you dared. I was going to ask the same thing.
The comments from the devs have been ringing a bit too close to Dr. Ray's "This is a predefined character in a third person narrative geared toward a core demographic" defense for excluding same sex relationships in ME.

Yeah, I'm not expecting in for DA2, honestly.

I created this post so hopefully BioWare could answer the question quickly and definitively, and avoid bickering and questioning on the board ad nauseam. But I guess I forgot this is the internet :)

It had to do with your tone.  It sort of sounded like you were going with 'anybody but somebody else like Zevran'

But I heard similar reactions from alot of people so I might have been projecting what other people have said onto you.  And I fully admit to being a weirdo but fail to see how that is relevent Image IPB

Yeah right. They're researching that. And the baloons.

I haven't even written that homosexuality was marginalized in DA:O.. so good for you that you didn't notice it.

PS. It's relevant. It affects how you think and write.

this is rapidly descending into every other same sex romance related one lol.

SO bioware, can you just give some sort of quick answer?

i feel like aside from just the romance options, DA:O also featured a lot of smaller nods to appease ALL of their fans, for example the ability to get a guy or girl in the human noble origin, the brothel, leiliana's lesbian stuff, etc. so while i might still play DA2 if they dont do this again, i'm certainly not buying it. gamefly. and i'd be ridiculously dissappointed. just because DA:O was really progressive and that was something that made it such a great experience for me. without the ability to play a character like myself or play in a game universe where same sex romance exists, DA is just another rpg. :( but with the "hawke" thing, not gonna lie, don't have a good feeling.

If my FemHawke (yes, I went there) only has a range of guys to pick from, I'm afraid she'll have to go celibate.

Especially if the only human of the bunch likes priiiizes.

Helena, saying that is a heavy risk...Image IPB

Who knows? Maybe BioWare will have all the romance subplots' include the "But the priize"-line. Considering how well it went down in ME2... Image IPB

The official confirmation for the m/m romance in DA:O came only after several websites spoiled the fact, so I would not hold my breath waiting to get confirmation regarding DA2. Bioware tends to tease with information regarding romances and even more with non-straight ones.

they do, but i think the fact that the series just took a huge turn towards mass effect status, people have a reason to be concerned, and it would be good to reassure their fans. what worries me is that even with the little bit of information we have about DA2, the reason that they gave as to why no M/M in ME would already apply.

It's difficult for me to stomach straight romances, actually. I will always select a gay romance over a straight one.

Mmm, how's that for a little reverse-homophobia? Whatever, I stand by it.

I enjoy the "realism" of the Dragon Age world. Homosexuality is as much a part of our lives as it is in the game. The only difference is, The Maker doesn't disapprove in Dragon Age so. . . it exists more prominently.

Just enjoy the game for what it is, sorry its not a reflection of Earth in ITS medieval times.

Ofcourse the reason they gave for ME is Bull...t and they know it. From what we know now Hakwe is less predefined than Cousland  so there is no reason yet to be too worried about it.
Not to mention that the same sex romances in DA:O were rather well recieved and it would be not a smart marketing move to now not include them.
I would be very grateful if they can confirme that same sex romance for both sexes exist, but I doubt that they will do so.

I was just kidding.  I interact just fine with others, I guess I fail to see what the point of what you have said was.

If you do not think same sex was marginalized then what was the point of what you just said about Bioware justifying having it be marginal.  Also they do get data from their games.

If I misunderstood I apologize.  I certainly did not notice Zevran being feminine at all when I romanced him with my female character, but we will just agree to disagree with that one.

Yep.  They confirmed nothing about any of the romances, though we guessed pretty well, until right before release.  So I would not expect anything from Bioware on this issue for awhile.
