So I was just chilling, listening to this and this and saw the update on the new DA and thought to myself - "Damn, DA2 needs some bagpipes mixed in with orchestra for maximum epicness!"
Seriously, how many games are there with bagpipes in their soundtrack? Maybe it's just me, but bagpipes really catch the ear's attention and enhance the overall experience. Plus, Corvus Corax did a great version of the main theme in the first game.

Any thoughts on this? I would especially like to hear the developers' opinion.

P.S. The website loathes me on so many levels. I can't stay logged on for more than a page. Image IPB

I'm hoping BioWare hire Kirill Pokrovsky to write the score, personally.

Chances are it'll be someone like Inon Zur again, though.

Just no crappy Alternative rock for the credits thanks.

If you have to use a licensed song, go with something that'd work, like some Folk/Viking Metal.

Inon's good, I don't think he's great though. I much prefer Kirill Pokrovsky and I felt his music helped breathe life into the game, whereas I didn't feel Inon's did that. I do remember the epicness of the Ostagar music.

I'm not really bothered, DA music was good but bagpipes to me sounds like a Banshee getting strangled, terrible noise. But if they decided to use them, no harm done, I can always listen to the radio while playing.

Faunts is a cool band and the credit song was very fitting for that game genre in particular. Can you say the same about Finntroll (to mention one) ?

Really? Thought so.

I was talking about 30 Seconds to Mars at the end of DA:O. M4 PT II worked for Mass Effect.

This is War was a piece of crap, but it might've worked with Mass Effect. Folk Metal, or even Power Metal works with Fantasy. Alternative rock doesn't.

Sacred 2 has an in-game Blind Guardian concert, I believe.

That's just 9 shades of awesome.

I felt Inon Zur peaked with his Icewind Dale II soundtrack. His work since then has been passable but far from outstanding. I rather BioWare hire Jack Wall or Jeremy Soule again.

My bad. I apologize. Image IPB  Mmm, I'd prefer orchestra music or a melody without lyrics for DA2. Or something with war drums and stuff like that.

That's exactly why I'm so fond of the idea of signing up Corvus Corax for the game. Their albums like Cantus Baranus II take epicness up to eleven. Just listen to Custodes Sunt Raptores. Sure, they use vocals, but they can always drop those.
