The new design kinda reminds me of cell-shading.

I have my doubts. I'll have to wait and see how it actually turns out. The whole DA thing is just great - it might not matter too much how it's being shapen visually.

I'll wait until I see the actual game screens than to judge a bunch of concept art.

Hey, interesting. The picture on dA is different to the widely released one. The witch looks older and her claw is clearly a gauntlet.

Now that you mention it.... the one on the DA2 - page is also thinner, wears heels and has a less detailed armor. Interesting.

Well, I can't see how he looks UNmanly. He just looks like a guy.

It doesn't look anime simply because the main character is a 20-something with a beard, rather than a 13 year old master swordsman pretty boy.

This new conceptart of the mage-lady is from Matt Rhodes, and I am pretty sure that this is not the general direction the visual design of the game is taking, but simply his unique style. Check out his gallery on dA ---> CLICK It's just his choice of coloring and shading, and probably not the new visual design of DA2.

Plus isn't it a bit early to judge the art design just yet? Come on, we only have two pictures to go with, don't we? No armordesigns, no environmental designs, no characterdesigns. Absolutely nothing. Just two pictures who are very far apart from each other in their overall style.

Thanks for the link.

Though I find it funny I'm comparing the witch with his version of Malificent.

I guess your perception of the art style is just different to mine in general.

If the game play is good, I'll accept an anime style. Otherwise, anime, blech.

The DA2 picture of the girl with the staff is amazing. It reminds me of Disney when they used to do hand drawn art. I keep thinking of Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmatians when I see the image.

Dragon Age: Origins was criticality panned for its bad visuals on consoles. I bet there thinking with this uber stylized look they can make reviews and gamers alike over look the graphics and make them love the art style.

Personally I played DA:O on PC and thought it looked great. But I love the look of the concept art and really want to see the game look like that.

And no screenshots.

The art style is definitely different, but I don't think anyone can judge it yet from two pieces of concept art. Might want to wait a bit for that.

That's just one picture, look at the other, look at the boxart, and note we have no screens.

I'd say that first Morrigan picture is more "anime" than either of the two I mentioned, and the game didn't end up looking like that at all, I think you guys are kind of reaching here.

remember tho concept art is always far more stylized than the actual game. From the concept art it looks like the drawing style will be very similar to the original (except with better graphics). The main difference that I see in the concept art is the clothes.

Nonsense, Dave! Only casual players with no imagination allow themselves to be shackled by information and facts.

The DA:O concept art looked nothing like the final game, so I think it's a bit early to be declaring that DA2 will be anime.

True Noviere, but since they have announced a DA anime movie in the works, the assumptions arn`t too far fetched either.

Yet the two concept art styles are drastically different thusfar.  The character designs are the main thing here as it's all we really have to judge off of. (Not necessarily the shading and detailing, atleast not to the same extent)

I'd just hate to see DA go the cel-shaded stylized route. When Borderlands did it, it just seems like a cop out to me. Like you couldn't get realistic graphics looking nice in DAO (although on PC its fine) and decided to make everything all stylized to cover up blemishes and an inability to keep things looking realistic.

I'll give it a chance but all the marketing points so far today have me way more concerned and skeptical than hyped and excited.

No your assumptions are farfetched.

FUNimation's artists are doing the anime. Bioware's artists are doing the game.

Please keep that distinction in mind, provided it isn't filled to the brim with irrational scathing hate for anime.

I think our best hint of what the art will look like is the book cover design
