He is not a Grey Warden but I bet we will get one that joins us at some point in the game.

There is no reason why Hawke needs to be a Warden if there is no blight in DA2. Anyone can kill Darkspawn, but only Grey Wardens can deal with Archdemons.

I wonder if the Architect will be in the game too. No closure on him at all.

Doubtful, seeing as he could be killed.

But... one of his main disciples is still alive. The Seeker, who is behind all the problems in the Wending Wood (Is that where you find Velanna?), is not met in awakening, and so is guaranteed to still be alive by DA2.

1) We will be able to import our DA:O games into DA2.
2) We will see Flemeth at some point.
3) Pissing off party members won't always be a bad thing. "They
won't necessarily leave. They may still join you, but they're going to
try to show you up, and that may influence battle in a different way."
4) We're getting the ME2 conversation wheel, but this time
instead of having some dialogue be a particular color the center of the
wheel will show a symbol to show what kind of reply it is. (The article
uses the examples of them being something like aggressive or sarcastic)
5) The way the story unfolds will be very different compared to
the past Bioware games. "Dragon Age II has a framed narrative structure,
which means that the exploits of Hawke occured in the past, but are
being retold in the present." "Narrators with unique insights into the
events in question tell the tale of his past adventures."
6) We may get to see some of the DA:O events at the start from a
different perspective. "Dragon Age II begins as the events of Origins
are still taking place, so you may see some familiar events from a
different angle."
7) Because of the game spanning a decade, we get to see the
consequences of our actions sooner, rather than in a little text at the
end of the game.
8) The PC version's combat system remains mostly the same. "The
PC version implements the same strategic approach afforded by a
mouse-and-keyboard control scheme." "Rather than try to mimic the PC
experience on consoles, Dragon Age II has a battle system more tailored
to the strengths of the PS3 and 360."

And? If the architect is supposed to play an important part, then what about people who killed him?

Even if you import a save, if someone can die they'll be forced into a small cameo role at best. Its better to have the Seeker fulfilling the Architect's role (if he's a major player, and even in the game), and to give the Architect a minor cameo if you spared him.

The fact that BioWare went with a new protagonist instead of continuing the Warden's story makes me think that Hawke is not a grey warden. I hope s/he really isn't. As Mary Sue/Gary Stu Hawke is with being "the single most important character in the world of Dragon Age", him/her becoming a grey warden is overkill and makes the DAO Warden less special. If the writers want to go in-depth with the grey wardens, they could've continued the Warden's story.

I really hope this isn't another story about Grey Wardens. Don't get me wrong -- I don't have anything against them... I just don't want another Darkspawn/Blight-focused story... I want NEW experiences, and to see other aspects of the setting. Also, I'm sick of always being part of some special organization -- I wanna freelance, baby!

From Five Facts; As the Grey Warden from Dragon Age: Origins was fighting darkspawn, Hawke was living in Lothering. Fans will remember that the small village was raided and destroyed (an event that occurred off-screen in Origins), and Hawke was one of the survivors. However, rather than stay and fight the darkspawn menace, Hawke flees Ferelden and heads north.

Which most likely means we'll be able to experience the horror that happened to lothering, and participate in some kind of escape/survival against the blight before going north, while the warden from the first game continues the fight against the archdemon

Forgive me if this has been mentioned somewhere but do we know if Hawke is, or will be, a Grey Warden? I realize Grey Warden's are the Jedi of the DA universe but I think I'd prefer if Hawke wasn't one. Maybe you can choose to become one or not? I think having him not being one, or making it a choice, opens up a lot more options as to who you can side with and what you can do.

Maybe if he makes grey warden's his allies they may offer the joining as a 1 atrribute and talent bonus.Otherwise i doubt you will be one and if you could it would be an option.

You might just be right about that, as far as I can understand from GameInformer. Quote: "Dragon Age II is not about killing an ancient evil or about quelling another blight; Hawke is the driving force behind the narrative." It's probably not gonna focus around the Darkspawn. Their role is probably gonna play out in the same manner as the Geth in Mass Effect 2, a sort of side story to the entire main plot of the game itself. All in all, the decisions made in the first game is indeed gonna affect the sequel in some way and it would be nice to see if the Architect can hold up to his promise, if you had decided to let him live in Awakening. All we know so far is that Flemeth is gonna appear in some shape or form. :D

Considering it isn't a blight story I doubt it. He has no need for Grey Warden abilities. He can still be incredibly powerful.

He's not going to be a Grey Warden but I'm willing to bet you'll get a Warden or two in your team.

maybe its gonna be like the grey wardens are just legends and there is like only 1 left or smthn and part of the story is like to seek him out. smthn like the original star wars trilogy cus bioware loves making games like that.

I think he's a space ninja. But also, I think it will be hilarious if since he's not undergone the Joining. The Blightspawn we see him fighting in the few screenshots released can infect him and he dies in the first chapter.

Assuming the Wardens are in teh Free marches (and I honestly can't imagine why they would have a presense somewhere) then I can easily see them trying to recruit Hawke.  S/he is going to be a strong warrior/rogue, or a powerful mage, afterall, and that's the one and only attribute the Wardens look for when seeking recruits for the Joining: strength and power.

That having been said, I'd greatly prefer if they played no part in the main storyline.  I also have very little fear that they will.  Many people have assumed that the Wardens were going to be the focus of the series, but the comments made by devs, not to mention the lore of Thedas as it has been presented to us, made it clear to me that the order of the Grey Wardens generally don't come to the attention of the people of the world unless a Blight is occuring.  They exist in the background, killing the odd darkspawn, but stay out of politics (the order in the Anderfels and Sophia Dryden being glaring exceptions of course) and the spotlight in order to maintain their neutrality.  So, yeah, I doubt they have much of a part to play on any large scale in DA2.

Now, I hadn't considered having a Grey Warden in your party until I read posts about it.  That's a very interesting idea.  I wouldn't be suprised at all if such a companion was available in DA2 when it comes out.

He's actually Bruce Wayne/Batman, on his not so recent time travel adventure.
