Listen, and understand! That Beard is out there! It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

Or assimilated.

JUST ONE STRAY HAIR CAN DESTROY CIVILIZATIONS!

The heavens will condemn us for what we have wrought here.

Hopefully Super-Wizard isn't limited to mages.
Or maybe getting the Super-Wizard beard gives other classes MAGE POWERS.

Because some beards aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some beards just want to watch the world burn.

Now... Now I understand who was behind the Mages Collective all the time... Now everything Mad Hermit said makes sense...
They...
The Council of Ancient Magic Beards...
It all makes sense now. Hawke. Lothering. Hermit.
Long ago, mages of Circe were killed, like it happened in DAO due to Uldred's blood magic. But back then mages were enslaved and absorbed by their own beards. Only one mage survived confrontation and it cost him his sanity. Poor mad hermit from Brecilian Forest. Beards were searching for him to have their revenge...
Remember Oghren taunting Anders about not being manly and wearing a skirt? See, mages tried to become manly back then, to compensate robes by beards. But beards became too strong.
They basically rule Ferelden now. Everywhere.. Duncan. Eamon. Controlled.
Now you see why Loghain was an enemy? Why they needed him gone?
Beards are behind the mage's collective.  They watched our Wardens, and now the one from Lothering, the one which escaped to save itself in case if Wardens fail against Loghain, is back. Hawke...
Maker, tell me I'm wrong!...:crying:

P.S. Fiendishly clever of you to maintain such facade, Dick Delaware. But I know you're one of them. I'm onto you:ph34r:

The ArchBeard is formless. The ArchBeard is powerful. Duncan, gifted with its avatar, made great use of it, but in the end, when he needed it most, the ArchBeard left Duncan powerless. THAT is why Cailan died.

The ArchBeard givith, the ArchBeard taketh away.

Always an awesome episode.  It had a line in there, though, that I think would do well to define Shepard: "I work for a loosely defined, if not nonexistent, branch of the government."

You know, I run a PnP Planescape game (think the setting of Planescape:Torment) and this entire thread has inspired me to include a grand beard conspiracy for the players to unravel alongside their less pressing matters of saving the multiverse.

"There is only one Lord of the ArchBeard.  Only one...who can bend it to his will.  And he does not share power!"

Is that what we're going for?  Quick!  To the depths of the Mount Doom Barber Shop in Kirkwall!  There the ArchBeard was made--only there can it be unmade.

Women can only get pregnant every 9 months.

Men can get kicked in the balls at any point in time.

And as we destroy the Beard, it will possess us completely, destroy Kirkwall, and lead to the events of Diablo 2- I mean DA3.

At which point Gordon Freeman turns up?  To kill us with a crowbar?  YES!

...I know it's utter crack, but I kind of want to play the Lord of the Beard now, and its sequel, Half-Life BEARD OF BAAL.

Just look at the PC model for the second game.

I also thought of a name for the series: "The Legend of Gor'Dun Hawke's Beard."

Did you not read the first post? The Beard is an integral part of the gameplay.

That sounds reasonable enough to me.
Another thought: since such beards are very hard to obtain, extremely manly and epic (I'm glad I have a dwarwen 2-h warrior) and because Hawke is human they can be available only to his companions, player's dedication to obtaining them should be rewarded by implementing beard morality system. Clean and well-groomed beard of tier 10 or higher adds bonuses to attributes, and dirty and stinky one adds penalties to enemies.
Beard of highest tier if made dirty and smelly should have a chance to fell an enemy or rank Elite or lower by stench alone. For example, such chance is counted as follows 1% + (character's cunning -10)%.
But what's the highest tier of beard? Duncanhair? Dragonbristle?

Duncanstubble is highest, Dragonbristle and Qunari Braid just below.
