Doesn't matter - Alistair doesn't even have a beard. He's not a man, he's a clown. Just like Bann Teabag.ankuu wrote...
Hmmm....i wonder if Morrigan was on ovulation when Alistair knocked her out...
Speaking of chockobo they inhabit only tier 1 beards (chickenfeather). Not good for combat, but you can always crunch a chockobo and spit blood on your beard to get a small bonus to blood magic effectiveness.

However Hawke "The Peasant"-bot is neccessary for play. No exceptions. We all Hawke The Peasant in DA2.The beard is not a necessary element to Hawke, just the Hawke they're using for advertising.

Oh, get off it. Seriously. Everyone else has already moved on from the "oh noes we can only play as a human" train of thought. Well, almost everyone else. There are clearly some exceptions.
That said, I'm liking the beards, and I'll probably play at least once with Hawke's "default" appearance. The power of the beard compels me.

Frankly to me it looks dirty and smelly. Without the proper sanitary conditions in the world peasant Hawke is adventuring most likely his beard is full of food leftovers and smells strongly of sweat and dirt. That said, I'm liking the beards, and I'll probably play at least once with Hawke's "default" appearance. That's why it has 0,3% chance of killing an opponent by sheer stench. Opponents without noses are immune.Kordaris wrote...

Actually, when the darkspawn killed Duncan, they stripped him of his beard. Then they used the beard to awaken another archdemon which became stronger, faster and more intelligent than the previous ones. Hawke's mission was to destroy the archdemon and to take the beard for himself. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how he becomes the champion of Kirkwall.Legbiter wrote...
Hawke's beard is a quest item in DA 2. It's previous owner was Duncan.

Er win.
I thought it was amusing ... I could go for some female version of the "manliness meter".

So she tells me...
"Oh Varric. Those Darkspawn are bothering me and I wanted to strip naked and go skinny dipping. Can you please take care of it for me? I am sure the Chantry templars studs will help, since I'm meeting them in the fountain outside their sanctuary later. But they are not nearly as scrumptious as you."
...and that my dear Cassandra is how I lead all the templars to eliminate the darkspawn from Kirkwall.

Leonida was abandoned by his own country to fight in 300 against millions.
Look at what happened to Jesus, crucified.
Leonardo Da Vinci was put on trial for heresy
Galileo Galilei? Same, and forced to disown all his scientifical discoveries
Giordano Bruno? Burned alive.
And I'm willing to bet that Grigori Rasputin was not as evil as history portraits him, he was killed nonetheless for political reasons I suspect.
And let's not forget how soon Duncan died in Dragon Age: Origins.
I'll tell you why, they all had a beard.
Good thing that Hitler and Stalin didn't have a beard, or else we would be hunt down like animals.
Now it's our time, ****ers, for once we get a human main character of an important franchise game who's got a beard by default, if you don't like it, get the **** out of here before we kill you all with our beard flails.
Long live Hawke. Long live his beard.
On a more serious note, this is the first canonic main character whose appearence I like... for the first time in a videogame I think... so please, at least for this once, if you don't like it, just endure it, like I had to endure pretty much every other main character (the canon version) in any other game...

I always thought men with beards have something to hide ... their face.
Also the whole manliness meter is wrong unless you include color. Because white beards are everything but manly.
